This isn't about nineteen-year-olds versus sixteen-year-olds. This is about the FACT that there has never been a case of pedophilia that has ever been cured. Once a pedophile --- ALWAYS a pedophile.
It's time our legislators reached out and grabbed a bit of reality before they approach the act of modifying the laws regarding sex offenders.
First, and foremost, reality doesn't happen in a clinical setting. Psychological definitions simply don't work in the real world, but our courtrooms are full of "experts" from the clinical environment, where they always testify that "we can treat the condition, Your Honor!" Sure! You can treat someone for a .44 calibre bullet wound, between their eyes, as well, but the liklihood of survival is nil. Until one of these so-called "experts" from the clinical world can produce a well-documented case of cured pedophilia, there should never be another convicted pedophile allowed to walk the same streets as our precious, innocent children.
Now, of course, someone will tell you that there's a huge difference between a true "Pedophile," and a "Child Molester." Nonsense! Thats the clinical definition, and the real world,(where all of these cases originate), cannot, and should not, differentiate between these ficticious clinical definitions. Molestation is molestation, and the perpetrators will just have to understand that the law is the law. We need a law that makes no exceptions, and we need a judiciary that understands that there is no cure. Clinical terms and statistics should never become a part of whether a perpetrator is allowed another chance to reoffend.
