The decrease in social security contributions (FICA, the Federal Insurance Contribution Act is not a tax, it's a contribution) was simply a way to pay off people who don't pay federal income tax...nothing more and nothing less. It did nothing to improve the economy, on only made SS that much closer to insolvency.
It was a payoff to Obama voters, as was the so-called "stimulus". Did you notice that the unemployment rate is pretty much the same since he took office the first time?
Who's the liar?
Wrong, the payroll tax holiday benefited everyone, because everyone pays it. And yeah, that includes those who pay no federal income tax... who are incredibly poor. Your assertion that it did nothing to improve the economy is only opinion, and you have no data to say that's the case. In truth, it's impossible to say any one rate or amount improved the economy. In fact, it doesn't matter anyways. All that matters is the entire package... which did improve the economy and kept us away from massive depression. And quite right, the unemployment rate is about the same. Unfortunately for you, this fact is totally unavailing because your scope creates a straw man. But let's talk unemployment. Take a look at unemployment in the summer of 2007... and follow the trend up through the time Obama took office. Guess the trend? That's right... massive explosion of unemployment. It went from 4.6 to 7.8 before Obama took office. The trend continued because guess what... the president can't command the economy at a whim, despite your right wing crap that he's a socialist (look it up because I don't think you guys know what that even is). So it went up 3.2 points in a year and a half about... after Obama took office did this trend continue? No... within the first 6 months the trend continued up to 9.8, yes... as in continuing its preexisting trend. But within 4 years brought it back down. He did this, I will remind you, with Republicans obstructing his efforts at every chance. The economy would likely be much better even today if it wasn't for tea party obstructionists. But crazy people pull the strings in the house. In any case, you get my point.:)

Does anyone remember how the media howled when Governor Romney said that there was a plan to manufacture Jeeps in China?
PolitiFact named it "The Lie of the Year"
http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2012/1...
This is how the media dragged this guy across the finish line in the elction.
It stated that Chrysler/Jeep was moving all jeep production to China which is WRONG. They are setting up a separate manufacturing in China for models to be sold in China and not the US. Given that Romney was implying that the auto workers were going to lose their jobs when in fact they were not, that makes the difference. Romney lied.

Yes ( and GOP agreed with him ) and Obama wanted to raise tax rates on the rich which the GOP declined over and over and over for years for people making over 250K

A worker who grosses $50,000 a year will take home $1,000 less.

Now..........If that worker is married and the wife is a stay home Mom with one child he gets back that $1,000.00 plus another $450.00 for spouse and child deduction for a grand total of $1450. Look at your 1040 form.

Consider it a small savings plan. Dont count interest, which is almost at zero with your savings account or CD's in a years time.

No, unfortunately.
Social Security is a tax, not a contribution. Paying the tax funds current benefits and does not give the payer any right to any future benefits.
Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) is a contribution and a tax.

Once Fiat finds that they can make Jeeps at lower cost in China, they will begin exporting Jeeps to the US.

Quote from Factcheck.org :
Mitt Romney falsely claimed in a recent speech that “Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China.” Chrysler says it is considering adding Jeep production sites in China to address rising demand in that market. But the company says it is “a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats” to suggest that it would close U.S. facilities and move all operations to China.

Despite Chrysler’s admonition, Romney is now making a similar claim in a new TV ad.

The ad says,“Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy and sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China. Mitt Romney will fight for every American job.” It’s misleading to suggest that Chrysler’s decision to expand into China will cost U.S. jobs — especially after the company has said it would have no impact on its U.S. operations.

<quoted text>I read a TIME article covering an interview with the then governor Bush. Something in his words made me say out loud, "This man intends to bankrupt the country." So two wars, Medicare Part D, and huge tax cuts to the wealthy later, the enormous forces of wealth and power are poised to completely dismantle the middle class and crush the sense of social obligation. "Mission Accomplished" for Georgie.
I'm always amazed how willing many of my fellow citizens are ready to act like lemmings and go over the cliff. Or maybe a better comparison is national suicide in the name of trickle down economics.
The rich have been doing it to the poor and the middle class for centuries yet the imbeciles in the majority of the population are still willing to lie legs open and listen to TV commercials of the rich pigs instead of halting the bath of selfishness and racism that the demons give them every day. Damn, America!! Have some self-respect!! Turn off your TVs when your pimp Rethuglicans come on! Stop watching Fox News upside down between your legs!! Nothing will change until the prostituted people stop bending over for the rich, obtain some measure of dignity, think critically about who is really screwing them and send them to hell at the next election.
Socialism and communism don't work for the people. Study your history and forget about blaming Republicans and Fox News. History will show you where we are heading, and heading there fast.
