I understand that Sonny does good work for the community, but he was guilty of buying votes. Sonny is a good person and you are right, he is always willing to help someone, if he has to do community service I think he could help the kids get a building so they can skateboard inside. that way the kids will be off the streets. Animals are important also, but I think our kids(the future) are more important.

Agreed! But, this Sonny guy probably helped those that he knew he would give him the recognition, his own "pat on the back"? How do you make so much money from mowing? Did you ever think about it? You get the state contracts. Yep. I know that you have to submit your bid but I am sure that somewhere there was someone in the political arena putting a bug in someone's ear that is in charge of those contracts. So, the whole danged system from Frankfort on down is corrupt. The stray animals of Bath Co. have survived for years. But, if you don't find something for your kids to do, that is central to all, the kids might turn to worse things, like drugs. Please, Bath Co., find someone in your towns to run for office that are interested in your future and not just the animals future. Animals do need help, but there are people living there that are needing your help most. I am sure that there are some children going to bed hungry at nights. Single parents that the system has let fall thru the cracks. They make too much money for welfare and not enough to survive. Make a Women and Children's Shelter for abused families to have an escape.

I recieved an e-mail from the Humane Society this morning. It was one of their many newsletters and in the e-mail it stated that a anonymous person personally wrote a letter to Judge Hood asking that Mr. Swartz be required to donate $150,000 for an animal shelter as part of his sentence. Judge Hood did the next best thing by ordering him to perform 250 hours community service building the shelter.

The point I'm trying to make is that if this one person took time out of their day to write to Judge Hood then any one of us could do the same for other projects. Yes, there are other things the time and money could be used for, but this one person thought this one thing was most important and made the request. So in the future if you all see the need for something to be done in this community, remember this person and their ability to think outside the box.

Mr. Swartz was not guilty of "buying" votes. He plead guilty to "conspiracy" not the same thing in the eyes of the law. Furthermore, he does not have to "build" an animal shelter and to those that are interested, he has copies of all the letters sent to the judge. So, yep he knows who made the suggestions of what his sentencing would consist of...I find it amazing the number of people who would take the time out of their day to write such recommendations for someone they barely know. I also find it remarkably funny the amounts of money they requested he be asked to "donate" or pay back. It's so sad to think of what true crimes are committed in this county and this one is the one everybody has to talk about. Vote buying vs. drugs...uhm, wonder which will damage the kids the most? People move on & stop judging people by the vehicles they drive and the houses they build. Every person who reads this has their own opinion, but you've got to remember...we all have choices and to my knowledge there wasn't one person who said they were pulled by the hair on their head, kicking and screaming into a voting booth and forced to vote for so and so. That was their choice, if it wasn't you, then why are you so concerned by Mr. Swartz and his sentence. This is such a big deal, ranks right up there with the cure for cancer, crimes against children, and the starving pygmies in New Guinea...the judge said it best when he said the people of Bath Co. were some of the saddest he's ever seen, if they got out of the county weren't sure they could find their way back.
After reading all the comments that have been posted throughout this trial; I have to agree. Move on!!!

Oops! "Sleeping with the enemy"? I don't know the man, don't care about him. I only care that he "stole" from the people of Bath Co. and gave the whole town a "black eye" so to speak. I don't care what he drives, what he does, etc. I also got out of town and yep, I find my way back twice a year, more if I can. He's done nothing to me nor for me, I don't live there anymore. I do not fear him and as far as I'm concerned, he can go sleep with the animals at the Humane Society. He's a man, like any other, he puts his pants on the same as the rest, one leg at a time, he's just a crooked man. So, since Bath Co will be charged for trials, etc for these crooks the people of Bath Co that need social help the County is broke because of these crooks. So, go ahead and defend him but do it pro bono, please!

Sorry, not buying. Vote buying does affect all of us and your comparison with the drug dealing bears consideration. For example, our elected officials that are part of the judiciary system have a great impact on the drug trade. Which judge will hand down a harsh sentence? Which county attorney will hide a warrant? It's all connected and it's about damn time someone stopped it.

Awww...I said it, I meant it. Sorry you got your little toes stepped on. I don't think any of us are jealous (does anyone on here want some jail time too?). If you're in politics, you are gonna be talked about, like it or not, especially if you are in with a bunch of crooks. Don't you worry about our time now, ya hear? We take care of ours just fine. However, have you ever heard of "freedom of speech"? I won't be shutting up anytime soon, sorry. You take care now.(BTW, you can hit reply on someone's post to respond to that particular person.)
