Suspect in Bennett murder case dies

A suspect in the death of former Mattoon resident Joshua Bennett died Tuesday night after spending six months in the hospital from a gunshot wound to the abdomen during the incident.

I am/was David Lindners aunt, and I am wanting the people to know that David was in no way a murderer. He was not able to be violent. The girls that are/were involved used him for their own purposes & needs then led him into this ambush to discard of him. His mind was not that of a normal 30 year old, his mental capacity was not fully there due to heart complications at birth. The family is mourning the loss of our loved one and this group should be held responsible for his death also. Hopefully one day it will all come out to prove Davids innocence in their vicious plan. God will take the matters into his hands I just hope that the judge and jury will also see this group for what they are,cold hearted criminals.

Jean, from what David told me himself, he was completly unawear of these people's plans. I agree with you they should be held accountable for his death as well. He was simply running with a bad crowd who lead him to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He and I had over come our past troubles and had become friends, I almost can't belive I will never talk to him again. He has certinlly been a huge part of my life. I feel so bad for your family, exspecially your mother, I know how much she had done for him these last 6 months and can't imagine what a toll the stress has been on her. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you all.

David Lindner is/was also my cousin. And I am in complete awe of the above articles. It makes me ill to think someone could actually believe David was innocent in this. And others should be held accountable for his death? He stole the knife he used. Are you kidding me? He stabbed a woman for christ sake. He knew exactly what he was doing and the only justification is knowing he had to answer to a higher power. His heart condition didn't effect his ability to know right from wrong. David had been in/out of trouble his entire life. You have to be as ill as he was to think he was a victim. You should be praying for the family whose life he destroyed. David has always had a fasination with knives as he threatened my husband with a knife. His death just got him to hell sooner than the rest of the group.

I felt like I was a sister to Josh and I know that who ver did this to him will pay. You guys can and should not even stick up for the bastards that did this to him. even if they are family you know deep in your heart that they are capable of doing such a terrible crime. I hope they get what is coming to them. Josh went down protecting his mother, what kind of man can you say your cousin/friend is?

Fist off Im gonna start this off by letting all of you know, that NONE of those low lifes were innocent! C'MON!!! Josh was my boyfriend when all this happened, and it was the least bit fair. Those men and women were so selfish! I dont care who is whos' family... Regardless if they were aware of what was happening or not, they took the life of a loved one. A SON, A BROTHER, AN UNCLE, A BOYFRIEND... So you sit and think about this REAL hard, and realize whats really happened. I love you Josh you will remain in my heart FOREVER!
