racial profiling in oliver springs

im really sick of the oliver springs polices racial profiling!!!! my kid is a good teen but because he is mixed he gets pulled over for bullshit reasons. the damn cop lied when he pulled him over yesterday saying his car was dragging under it. we know what a car sounds like when it drags and it wasnt dragging at all!!!! he passed us going the opposite direction. how the hell could he see if the car drags if ya not even behind it. the cop seen he was a black man with white girls in the car so he turned around and followed behind another car between us. still not able to see under our car. and yet he said our car was dragging over the railroad tracks with sparks coming from it. if we were dragging with sparks we would have heard it, period!! stop the freakin racial profiling!!!!! my son is a good person and a great father. this isnt freakin Mayberry!!!! the cop was polite but he knows he was lying when he pulled in behind us and said it was because of the pipes dragging. get a grip Andy Griffith!!! BLACK PEOPLE are just a different color. that dont mean they are bad, theyre just not white.this is 2012 not 1965! black ppl actually drive now instead of sittin in the back of the bus!!!!!! pull him over again and i will sue ya for harrassment and racial discrimination. you, officer, are the reason people hate cops and dont wanna call them when they need to.

This is so true, I know not all the Oliver springs police force is like this, but at least half r, and it's sickening to me ... Im so sorry this is happen to ur son, all we can do is pray for bricks like that...

My son is now 21 but when he was in high school he was pulled over a few times for no apparent reason. Once they even searched his car! He was too scared to ask why so he let them without even asking why they doing so. Another time we were coming home in separate vehicles at night and I ended up in front of my son and lo and behold they pulled him over for nothing and just checked his license. It makes me mad especially due to the fact that my son was Never in any trouble at school or anywhere fir that matter. Just because he drove what drove what some might say a " pimped" out car didn't mean he was trouble.

i understand ya may not always know that ya car is dragging but i live on top of a mountain and this car draggs goin up my driveway daily so i know what it sounds like. this car sets low regardless but i know for a fact that the car wasnt dragging. i was in the car the whole time. if i had not been with him when this happened i may have thought maybe it was dragging but i know better, period. and i know the cop knew better too. my son is only 18 and has never been in trouble. he is even a good safe driver. this is the second time he was pulled over in the past month. its getting to be rediculous to drive through O.S. and be profiled because of the color of ya skin.

Hell im white and I use to get pulled over slot ,in my young and rowdy days,its youth not a black white thang,hell everytime I been to the valley in oak ridge I been pulled over,

i seen the os cops pull over a young man driving a pickup truck with loud mufflers and 3 mexicans in the bed of the truck i read in the oak ridger paper a few days later where the driver had been charged with dui and the 3 mexicans were charged with public drunk and possesing drugs so yes they raciayl profile and i think its a bad idea look some people drive miles out of their way down blair road or popular creek road or all kinds of ways to dodge oliver springs so you know its hurting our towns econmy if it wasnt for the 4 weelers at windrock and the windmills and tourists passing through looking at the october sky movie set this town would dry up we cant have anything here but hardys and subway well i dont eat at either of those slophouses anyway but pizza hut is good and i can go out to picantes the food is not good but the beer is we got two tabbaco shops and two marathons and a couple of dollar stores what else do you see in the future nothing as long as these cops keep racially profillig negros and mexicans and hippies or mixed couples or just because some teenager has his ballcap turned sideways or they see a good looking blonde driving down the road the cops will pull them over for that to next move oliver springs will get red light cameras and speed cameras at the intersection of highway 61 and the intersection of highway 62 and put a speed camera at the school zone what they need to do is put a stop to some of this dope and these drunks and these morgan county people coming down here nosying around.

batman- I was with you until you brought Morgan County into the picture. Part of Oliver Springs (Picante) is in Morgan County. Yes there are bad folks in Morgan County- just like Roane and Anderson- and everywhere else. The topic is racial profiling- stick to it]

Not only is there racial profiling- but other profiling as well- I'm surprised that we do get all the four wheelers, because out of town is subject to pull overs.

I'm a Hopper and hell yes theres still stupid people not just in Oz..I went to Olivers Springs even though my family was spoken in hiGH regard,I had more than one incident where I had to stay out of school to keep it quieted down ME... What bout the bigots? they didnt get sh...Now that I'm older it doesnt bother me as bad but it still hurts..I'm Jacki Hopper Williams and very proud to be bi-racial....

your statement may be technecially true but your still wrong. yea u can not hear sparks. they can be silent. but the sparks were made by the undercarrage dragging the ground and the speed limit is 45. if 45 was bein done and ground contact hard enough to form sparks would not only be heard but would be felt as well. hell if a stick is dragging the ground u can fell it so u can hear and fell if the under carriage dragged to that extent.

I left nothing out. He has never been in trouble and neither have I. I have only ever had one speeding ticket in my life. Never arrested. Never been in trouble with the law.and neither has he. And it wasn't a low rider. It's just a Buick that sits low. He wasn't speeding and the car wasn't dragging. And considering he passed the cop going the opposite direction, yes I'm sure it was profiling. The cop didn't even get behind him while he was driving. He came up behind us after we were stopped at the post office. And to the predjudice comments... I am grown and don't give a damn about your ignorance. There was only one Adam and one Eve. We all came from God. We all came from thesame creator. God is love and he doesn't discriminate, maybe you shouldn't either.
