I am glad this was posted to topix. It gives me a reason to respect my veteran brothers in olive hill. I have avoided all the local veterans organisations because of the boozeing. At my age the night life and partys are behind me. I was very active in veterans organisations in Paintsville(my home prior). Those organisations were there to assist veterans who needed help. We maintained scharlorships for students ect. There were groups that were just Bingo halls, dance halls ,and bars there too. Thanks veterans from the legion for makeing our children and grandchildren have a reason to be proud of us. With the economy being in the dumps may I suggest you start a food bank to distribute food to the children who are hungry through no fault of their own. There is a place in prestonsburg that distributes food through Gods Pantry. All you have to do is form a group to see that it goes to the hungry. Dont tell me the churches should do that! Its obvious they dont.

Thank You brother, this little town has a lot of people that have no idea what the Legion does. They don't know that the Legion has been the longest supporter for the Little League Program, or that they help the Boy Scouts, or that they send youth to Boys Camp every year, or that they help support families in need all around the area.People here would rather bash a orginzation then just say THANK YOU.God Bless You Brother and come see us.

Actually churches do help but they are like the rest, they work on low budget and donations. Your idea is great to have one more group interested in feeding the needy. This would help unite this community as well as the people showing more respect to OUR veterans.
