How are your electricity bills fairing?
In Wayne County we buy from SKRECC, who purchases power from East KY Power. They are murdering us. Fixed income homes are trying to pay $400 electric bills for a two bedroom small home. Lots of homes are seeing $300-$400 electric bills. We have a fuel charge which is 1/3 of our bill and an environmental surchage that is at least 10%. How is it going for you, the ones who purchase energy from KY Power. Just need to know, so we can ban together here and fight for a change.

That's all for now.

I am on Grayson RECC and we pay an astronomical fee for electriciy. I try a keep lights turned off and keep the heat turned down, but it is still out of site. My bill was around 350 last month for around 1500 square feet. Don't know what we are going to do.

I'm going to get an outdoor wood boiler to heat my home...... the rate from RECC is going up another 20% soon.

Basically, if you were paying 200 dollar electric bills last year, you can prettty much expect them to be around 400..

I am on KY Power and they too took a rate hike. Bought a propane heater (wall mount) and cut my bill in half. Like heating with a wood burner but without the ashes and mess. I pray you all find a heating source that will help you.

We have KU and I do believe they are the best around. Not much of a hike from last year. I love their budget billing.
We also have the wall mounts like you.. We have a couple actually.. One looks like the log fire place. We've had these for several years. We usually don't use them unless its really cold or for backup when the electrics out.
KU also keeps their lines cleared of all the trees and such.. I can't say enough good things about the Morehead Crew.

I have ky. power for the last two months our electric bill was around 350.00, but both months we also used a gas fireplace(i would have hate to have seen it if we didnt) I called ky. power they said because the price of coal went up so did our electric bills,i asked how much of a hike, they said 58%, that is a shame, thank GOD we had the money to pay it, but i worry about the people that are on fixed incomes.

I have AEP and their bills are far to high. All the electric companies are just riping their customers off because they can get away with it, its something that most of us need every day and they take advantage of it. Just like the gas prices, grocery prices, auto insurance-well you get the point.

I can understand not being able to live the life of luxury but it's bad when your working and can't afford the the things you need. There has to be something we, the consumer, can do. Any ideas?

I have had KU in Morehead, Richmond, and now Lexington. My bill most months is between $40-$60 although it has been around $100 lately since it has been so cold. I love KU compared to the others. My family has AEP and their bill is almost $200 a month and more than $300 a lot of times. I also had Grayson Rural and Fleming Mason once and both of those companies are so expensive. When I used Grayson electric i paid more in electricity than I did on my rent!! I only lived there 2 months because of this!

You guys don't want Olive Hill utilities for sure. My bill was almost $400 this month and I burn wood. I think they automatically assume I use more electric in the winter and bill me for it.

Now I have KE and in the winter its around 80, summer 50, and thats running 2 air conditioners too. It is a joke over there. What a rip off how they cheat poor people, a little shit town of Olive Hill and you gotta wheel and deal to come up with that much money to keep your lights on. Start a petition and ill be on the list

GRECC has to be able to pay for the new GMC Denali for the president to drive. Also they put an elevator in a 2-story (!!!!) office building for the employees.

RECC has it made. If you're without power cause some of their old stuff tore up or couldn't stand the wind they still get paid. They will eventually come out and fix it, of course while the groceries you just bought are ruining in the freezer, the entire crew is taking an hour long lunch. It's hard enough for poor people to pay their over priced bills and buy food for the family, now you have to buy groceries again.

My husband's father is under Kentucky Power and he has 2 places. A trailer he lives in and a house that he uses for storage. The house has nothing plugged up but has electricity going to it. The past 2 months with nothing on in the house...the bill has been almost 70 dollars. That is outrageous. With me and my husband we both are hardly at home and our bill was over 300 dollars. Kentucky Power is a ripoff

So that explains why my bill has been over $400 for the past two months! And I have wood heat as well O.o
