If you're like me, sometimes I feel like I'm in some kind of alternate universe or plain of existence or something. And there are a few who would sarcastically agree. And to comfort assure myself I m not, I question what is making me feel that way.

On the front page of the Feb. 25th issue of "The Pub", an article read, "Support Voiced for Stricter Gun Control Laws". And after reading the article, I was left with the impression that Illinois residents by a two to one margin wanted stricter gun control laws. This was the findings of a survey conducted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute. It looked very official as well as reliable and yet something just didn't resonate just right.

Gun control has been a local as well as national topic for quite some time and I have yet to hear the first person voice an opinion favoring more/stricter laws. So what gives? So I looked into just who this Paul Simon Group is and what their agenda may be and found the below description of them:
**********

The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute is located at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. It was founded by Paul Simon, a former two-term U.S. Senator from Illinois and one-time candidate for the Democratic Party (United States) nomination for President of the United States. Opening in 1997, the Institute differentiates itself from similar organizations by working directly with elected officials and others to fashion and implement change in public policy.
**********

That last part about "fashion and implement change in public policy" kind of explains everything. Now that I have a clearer picture of what is really going on, I have to ask myself two questions.
(1) Was this just bad journalism on the part of The Pub?
(2) Or does The Pub (like many other forms of media) know which side their bread is buttered on.

Always Question!

we don't know why there are so many gun killings. We know there are lots of people enraged over their growing up situations or have a chemical imbalance. And we don't know when it will happen again.

But we DO KNOW that we need to change how we raise kids and control what they are exposed to the media etc. What adults do as well also needs to be held at a higher character level since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

really like the message where do you get these bits of information do you research all day long looking or do you just happen to know where they are

especially like the Cowboy attire the scenery and the horse

All I can say is they don't make presidents like they use

A sad plight.

Oh I'm still around. Thanks for asking. It depends on your definition of "gun control".

There has always been that element that thinks that by getting rid of those nasty old guns, you can solve/eliminate killings. I know, it's as stupid as hell but they always surface and yell their heads off from time to time. And when there is a politician that needs a little attention (or wants to get some attention) he/she will champion the cause and attempt to rid (via bills) the civilized world of those nasty guns without putting it through any thought process. And when that happens, the population panics and they start hording guns and ammo like you see now.

But I'm afraid the scenario has changed this time. This president does not play by the rules and is working towards total control. And when he gets it, you'll see the 2nd amendment pealed away layer by layer until owning a gun is nearly impossible, that is unless you're a criminal. It will come in the form of:
Registering all guns.
The regulating of types of guns.
The changing of the definitions of guns to suite the government's goal.
The extreme taxing of guns and ammo.
The passing of horrible laws for owning, storing, shooting, reselling and using in self defense.
Rewards for turning in those who defy the law.
And even changing or eliminating the 2nd amendment altogether.
This is what happens when "we the people" do not pay attention and are too lazy to get involved.
Be afraid, very afraid!
