Per Ralph above the charges and conviction were ultimately dropped. AT an appropriate age I am sure the mother told them the facts- the children can just go to the internet and found out what happened and why she shot him.
This is actually a famous case in that the "battered wife syndrome" defense was used for the ifrst time in NY and now is widely accepted as a viable defense under the appropriate circumstances.
As awful as it must have been for the Emick woman, she ultimately paved the way for many women in similar circumstances.
She most certainly did! The abuse she suffered was absolutely horrible. I was young, but recall the stories told to me by my parents later in life. She did what she had to do to survive!!!

Leslie and Marshal used to live in an apartment above a Sub shop, where I worked in the mid 70's, he would regularly come down for a pack of cigarettes from the machine, seemed ok back then...

I got another beauty for all...the Saga of John Riley. Hart shot him twice with a shotgun on the porch of one of his places over on Senaca Ave. Cotton Donnely, one of the policeman (they had surrounded the place and told Hart to come out w/o the gun, hands up) and he seemed to say "no" so Cotton went up and faced him, relying on their friendship...I remember Cotton saying how scared he was, and he thought Hart was going to shoot him. Jim Hart got five years in Attica, and I understand he helped some NYSP during the Riots and got an early out...original sentence was eight years. Needless to say, Riley did not mess with anymore black girls in his quest for immortality. He wasn't very smart, nor a good BB player, either.
I think this is a little off- yes jimmy hart killed John Riley. But, i don't think it was Jimmy's private stash - I believe it was his wife. Also, I don't think Riley was just passing through as a bona student because he had a son that grew up in Olean. So obviously the son was already here before the murder happened

Its funny when ppl think they kno stuff they don't! First off! Jimmy wuz messin w Johns woman n John was messin w Jimmys woman and yes Johns son was 4 when all this went down! Jimmy woulda never hit John except John pushed someone outta the way and caught the bullet when he shot thru the window of the house down the street! They were both in the wrong so makin Jimmy out to be some saint when he was doin the SAME thing John was is ignorant but then again ppl make ignorant comments when they don't kno the WHOLE truth! I however do! So get facts together b4 you run ya mouth! And sidenote! One of his houses? Jimmy owned NO house over there! Once again get the facts first!

Yes riley did date black woman he has a bi-racial son named Geoff riley if you haven't heard of him, and as far as james hart he got 25 years not 5 years he was released after 5 years for saving several prison guards during the attica riots.
