It seems alot of people complain about westwood nj police officers,when they dont even know what the working of a police is!.But they all call on these fine officers to save a friends or a loved ones life!
IT IS A NOBLE JOB,to be a police officer,spend a day in a police officers shoes and im sure you will agree!

As i see the westwood police get out of their cruisers to give tickets to speeder ect,it makes me nervous with all those cars passing.please be careful out there,i would like to see you all retire from the westwood police dept unharmed!and extra careful at night!
**During the past ten years,more officers were killed feloniously on Friday than any other day of the week.The fewest number of felonious fatalities occurred on Sunday.Over the past decade,more officers were killed between 8:01 p.m and 10:oo p.m than during any other two-hour period.

I am an 18 year old who has grown up in Westwood all of my life, and I love every bit of it, as of now i am going to school in Providence and studying criminal justice. And being home for a day or two last week really reminded me of somethings, how unfair the westwood police are. Anyone under the age of 30 knows that you are discriminated by the westwood police. I have never been pulled over by a cop in westwood and not had another arrive on back up and my entire car searched. Last week my friends dim brake light ended up in an entire K9 search of his vehichle two field sobriety tests, which all came out negative, wasting our time and our tax payers money. Westwood police use intimidation and bullying tactics to scare the pubic. This might not be obvious to you other community members but it is happening!, ask your children, ask any teenage in the community. The westwood police MOCK the fourth amendment like it is invisible. Probable cause for a search is being under the age of 30. There are laws in the country protecting citizens privacy, and they were put there for a reason, not to be ignored by these alpha males on power trips. Once again with no exxageration i have been pulled over approximatly 10 times in my life by westwood, EVERY ONE RESULTED IN A UNCONSTITUTIONAL SEARCH, EVERY SINGLE ONE. Never asking for consent or stating a probable cause.

Yesterday, I witnessed three young men the thrown up against a wall and searched at the Hillsdale blockbuster store as they exited it after renting a movie yesterday. They were in the store with me the entire time and did not do anything out-of-the-ordinary. These gentlemen were surrounded by 6 or 7 officers because the store manager unnecessarily called the police. The store had to be closed for about an hour because of this. These gentlemen were subjected to horrifying and humiliating searches in public having done nothing at all. This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

Nothing with speaking your mind.but before you say or think the police do these things because they are just trying to make people look bad,did you know,On average,more than 56,000 law enforcement officers are assaulted each year,resulting in over 16,000 injuries.A total of 1,649 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years,an average of one death every 53 hours or 165 per year,There were 145 law enforcement officers killed in 2006.these are the facts,Police officers men and women carry the weight of the community on their shoulders.spend a day in a Police Officers shoes for a day.

Respnding to the gentleman writing about the number of police that are killed in the line of duty every year. I want to first of say that I have nothing againt the police force in general and my heart truely goes out to the families that have lost a father/mother or any other family member for that matter. But the fact of the matter is that the concentration of officers being killed are located in high crime areas such as (just using new jersey as an example) Paterson, Newark, Camden, or federal agents involved in DEA, FBI, etc. What worries me that if you are unaware that Westwood police officers are one of the top 5 paid law enforcers in the countrie making well over police working in high crime and urban areas, and more often that not are even receiving more compensation and benefit factors than our federal agents. The story was in the Bergen Record and you can check it out. The bottom line is WESTWOOD IS A SAFE NON VIOLENT COMMUNITY. On top of this Westwood now has a "gang problem", where as Hackensack a close by much more urban city has reported no gang activty at all. This is aimed at the Mexican population of our town, whom which many I worked with at a restaurant located in town. The fact is that 3 minorities happen to be wearing the same color is considered a gang. Mr. Nowacki i am not in anyway attacking your comment but simply trying to prove a point. Maybe if you were able to just see one of the "routine traffic stop" and witness how many uneeded police officers show up, the blaitent diseregard of the fourth amendment , the diseregard for the procedure of asking for a consent to search, and the sometimes mind blowing probable causes you would think differently. Once again just speaking my mind if anyone has a similar experience, or perhaps has a response to my message please post. Thank you for listening!

I grew up in Westwood. Back in the 70s the cops were out of control. You could get pulled over and harrased just for wearing a denim jacket.
I see things have gotten even worse.
Don't take it! Stand up for your rights. Make them do their job properly. We pay them to serve and protect. If more people stood up to them they would have no choice but to straigten up.

Did one of Westwood's finest torch his cruiser by being careless and parking his car on a pile of leaves? I've heard rumor of this and wonder what the disciplinary action would be for such carelessness.

west wood police are cowards they threw my 72 year old grand mother to the floor for asking for mercy for her son there low lifes and cowards and i think a lot of them shouldn't be wearing a badge and to the sgt i seen who did it please take off that badge and come around my nieghborhood for 20 minutes and ill show you how to throw someone you COWARD

id have 2 agree that most of the westwood cops are pricks!! but i can say there are aselected few that are ok,only because they put in my sons carseat but besides that my exsperiances wit them have never been the best.and wat soo many of wat my friends have gone threw was pretty much bullshit and had no reason,and im talking since we were in the 7th grade.now i am 27.now i work for alotof different towns in bergen county and i can truthfully say that not only residents speak low of westwood but other people in the same feild would have 2 agree wit me!

Im 24 years old n went to NVOT which borders towns like hillsdale, westwood, n rivervale. I had a black friend who was walking through westwood because he didn't have the luxury of having a car...They still searched him completely because "there was a fight with a black male and younger white kids" So he was the numero uno suspect. Its sad because he was crying and was so scared to be treated like that. I love cops because i wanted to be one for so long but no offense, NJ is so backwards, Political children get the job with an open invitation and become corrupt because mommy is the councilman, and daddy is the mayor of a near by in pocket town... Its no wonder everyone wants to be a cop in bergen county..."If u can't beat em.." If u live in these alike towns its all the same. How towns conduct business with nepatism makes me sick, Look at northvales 2 new police recruits! They look like they'll protect me well, so well they must of beat out the other over 6 foot well built army vets who would run miles over them but wait..Isn't both of their fathers related to politics of the town...No im wrong, one is a just a cop of it...LOL, How can we disrespect cops in these towns if the highest people in charge of them are to blame even more???

Okay, three cruisers pull over my 56 year old brother, suffering from emphyzema, can barely move, and they're protecting themselves? One of them was fooling around with some young girl in his cruiser. They were parked in a parking lot at night. Imagine if his wife found out....or his young kids....scumbag!
