Here in the Village, beneath the dirt roads, beneath the unfinished Welcome Center, Beneath the Hepburn Center, something has happened to what should be basic to government and the First Selectman has no comment.

They are not concerned with "private" funds. Mosca has had them convinced all along that this Fund was off limits. Thank You May Hansen!

Jerry, The Union had no knowledge of this donation until Mary Hansen filed and won her FOI complaint. Once this information became public, Mary Hansen donated a copy of the documents she was awarded from the FOI decision to the Union. The citizens of Old Saybrook should be proud of Mary and stand behind her. She went out on a limb and took a stand where others would never go. That is true courage.

Thank God it is finally all coming out. Badger, you were right. More was cooking than we knew about. And thank God for our wonderful citizens, Mary H. and the P.C. Board members, who have been bucking the the rest of the board.
Now we know why there was such a rush to get Mosca's buddy deputized, without looking for someone more qualified and honest.

This story just proves fact is stranger than fiction because you just can't make this stuff up! What a storyline....Interesting to see all of OSPD's roaches running for the cracks when the sunlight of truth reveals their presence. Still wonder why the FBI, IRS or Inspectors from the Chief State's Attorney Office are not investigating what appears to be at least unethical behavior if not criminal racketeering by corrupt municipal and police officials. One thing is for certain if regular folks like me or you were the subject of these same allegations every agency listed above would be lining up for their crack at you. Why the lack of interest in Mosca, O'Brien and others do they hold embarassing facts to use against fellow law enforcement agencies if investigated?

Why is the First Selectman so quiet?

I have in the past. Channel 3 did a little something about this awhile back. I think I will wait until Mosca is actually indicted by Blumenthals office to do it again. Law suits don't have the impact or public appeal that criminal charges do.

Guilty people usually are. Pace is "pacin'" today, trust me. He will and should get sucked into all of this. He is just as guilty as Mosca when it comes to racketeering.

Thank you. As soon as I found about Eddies plans for Spera, I knew something was going to happen, quickly. Also, I have said all along that Eddie was/is guilty of Racketeering and looks like the Union Lawyers agree with me. Let's hope Spera AND Pace get sucked into this and we can send all of them packin' to Florida along with a few Commissioners. Maybe they can start their own PD in one of those Gated Communities and live happily ever after.

Although there has never been an entity with that exact name, there was at that time a voluntary association of police officers known as the "Old Saybrook Policemen's Brotherhood Association." The suit says it was common at that time for such associations to be known as a "Police Benevolent Association."

The Old Saybrook Policemen's Brotherhood Association eventually became the Old Saybrook Police Union C.O.P.S Local 106, which has brought this suit.

If the above is true, the present Union has no case regardless of what they think the donor meant!

Its funny, a few months ago, I asked on a forum how the actual rank and file of the OSPD felt about Mosca. I guess this is the answer.

Its time for that fatass to retire to Florida and get some real management in there.

Again, it makes me very grateful that we in Essex make use of the Resident Trooper program offered by the State Police. New trooper every couple of years = no entrenched beaurocracy.

why hasn't the governor steped in and put the state police in charge till this washes out? the police comm. is a joke, and they should be removed as well, untill the out come.there should be an open hearing at the high school with the police comm.,selectman, and board of finance, so we the taxpayers can ask questions. the state needs to do this so citizens can ask questions without being afraid. we are paying the freight with no answers.

I have concerns about the Blumenthal investigation. He is a politician and in order to stay in his position he has to be re-elected. Will he risk loosing votes from police officers across the state by coming down hard on one of their own? Mosca still has connections and pressure could be brought on Blumenthal's office to go easy on him. Just a thought.

I agree and this does have me concerned. However, the issue has taken on a life of its own and Blumie amy just HAVE to do something. Also, other PDs consider OS a joke at this point, except Madison and Cromwell maybe.
