Do we really want to go where liquor can take us?

The bigger story is how the mayor ducked the meeting and the mayor pro tem didn't have to vote so neither had to take a stand. Politics as usual, just like the lottery. The local paper gave this passing mention but no one developed it.

To be honest, I don't mind the mayor and pro tem avoiding the issue, so long as they don't stand in the way of the people making the decision.

And we'll go exactly where liquor will take us - it's where we've been already, and the better question is 'Do we really want to go where people with no ability to control their alcoholism will take us?' There's nothing wrong with drinking, so long as you don't drink and drive, and as long as you don't continually drink to excess. Remember, Jesus drank wine quite a bit.

I have a problem with elected officials dodging the "hot topic" issues. The were elected to take a stand not dodge, cover and run. While I may not agree with their positions on many issues all 4 other members voted, 3 for the election and 1 against and at least they took a stand.

First of all, before you can comment on an issue, you need to have some type of knowledge on the subject. "Pratz" do you ever drink, and do you really think that just asking someone to not drink and drive will make things all better. All of us are touched by an alchoholic, perhaps, and uncle or cousin. Those people cant control their alcohol intake that is why there are laws...

Not that I am trying to preach to anyone but many moons ago, I lived in that city and I lost a loved one to an alcohol related death. He was my son, he was hit by a drunk driver, and its not as simple as everyone makes it out to be. I am glad that there are city's that take the steps to be "dry" and more should take suit. I am sorry if I offended anyone.

So they have to go to the next county and drive all the way home after drinking. Lets see how many more people does that put at danger?

Hey Bartholamew, try looking at topic dates before posting comments.

You, like many of the Vote No people are about 30 years behind times. At least you many be a bit better and only 3 1/2 years behind.
