There will be a town hall meeting next Wednesday, December, 20th to protest the building of a Costco in Morganville. The location of the site is where the Regal movie theater is located. This will cause a major traffic jam on Route 9 North as well as disrupt the nearby communities. Trucks will be loading and unloading cargo all hours of the night which will add noise pollution to the area. Also, with the new stores on Texas Road, the congestion in the area will be very bad. Please show up and support our cause.

Why do you think this is a bad thing? I believe this is good for the nearby residents. We got a major shopping store here -- convenient for every one. The Costco store is too far to making any noise to PDJ residents. They will be expanding the roads and that is okay.

I strongly support COSTCO to open up here.

Costco in...Regal theater gone....just what we need around here more shopping. Go to BJ's if you need a warehouse. Half of the stores in the regal strip center are out of business. What about all of the commuter parking...? I hope Old Bridge denies Costco...part of the property is in Old Bridge.

I think we should keep the Regal theatre. Who wants to go to Freehold to watch movies?

But Regal has gone out of business, there is no way to keep it here. But my question is why people does not like a COSTCO here. Is COSTCO here really a bad thing?

The problem is... the Regal has gone bankrupt. Thats a fact. It is deffenetly leaving. The question is what will go there? In my opinion, a Costco will destroy the value of our homes in PDJ, Millpond and Enclosure. For reasons stated above, noise pollution, no commuter parking and traffic, will greatly affect our home values. When the shopping at Old Bridge partitioned to open on the empty land on Texas Road, the owners at PDJ & Enclosure did not have any say since it was in Old Bridge and not Marlboro. Now with the Costco trying to come in at the Regal, we do have a say. I don't see the trade off between driving an extra 15 minutes every month to Freehold and retain the value of your home. If I find out that Costco is coming in, I will most deffenetly sell my home. I live in PDJ and I am not right behind the theaters. People who live that close will be most affected.

ps - PDJ pool is facing the back of the theaters. I can imagine the smell from the dumpsters of Costco making it way in the hot summer to our pool.

I think we should keep the Regal - good place. The real tragedy would be losing the IHOP. Who wants to take their kids to a Costco on a rainy weekend day? Why can't they put the Costco in a new location?

you should smell the dumpsters back there too. I was told that they would tear down the regal and put the costco in the land to the left of the existing theater where there is currently a house. What will happen to all the commuter parking? I use it everyday. If you go to the Brunelli & Co. website, it will show you the land that is for costco. Part of the land is in Old Bridge...the layout is to include a gas station as well.

1. The commuter parking will remain at the back of the movie theater.
2. The Costco will be closer to Route 9 away from the pool.
3. Regal sold the site to a developer.
4. There is always police by the movie theater because it became hang out for teen age kids.
5. Costco will bring much needed revenue to the township.

All valid points, but...

1-Commuter parking may go in the back, but that does not mean there will be more parking spots for commuters. More then likely there will be less spots and shopping carts to contend with.
2-Costco will be at least 4 times the size of the Regal, hence it will still extend out in all directions
3-Regal sold site due to it going bankrupt
4-The Police do come down to the theater to make sure the kids are not hanging out, but graffiti became a big problem and the Police were unable to stop it
5-Yes, Costco will bring more revenue to the township. This will not cause your property taxes to go down. More then likely the revenue will never trickle down to the residents

The point is the noise of the trucks, the lack of parking and the traffic are most residents concerns.

Funny I never see cops there. Do you mean they're always at the Freehold theater? Regal should stay.

I know a lot about the Costco project so please feel free to ask any questions you like.

1. The commuter parking will be increased from 350 spaces to 400 spaces.
2. The Costco will be closer to Rt 9 than the Regal.
3. Regal did sell to a developer and will be torn down regardless. Either it's going to be a Costco or another type of shopping center.
4. All trash generated by Costco will be in a self contained interior trash compactor.

When construction begins, will all the commuter parking will be close off? Where will the commuter park their cars to take the Bus at Rt 9 & Texas Rd?
Pushing the commuters further South will mean an extra zone (extra cost) and time. Furthermore, I dont think there's available parking? Also, there's a waiting list for commuters parking.
Yes, it will bring revenue to the township. Which may mean more money to help with the Township? If Morganville/Marlboro does not take this opportunity, then Old Bridge will keep getting these contracts and build the malls next to Morganville. Essentially, we will get the traffic but not the revenue.
Ex: The Shoppes at Old Bridge is essentially will be next to the Regal Theatre mall.
So, I do not mind having the Costco but I do mind losing the commuter parking.(even temporarily)
Finally, the links above http://www.storetrax.com/NJRETAILREALTY/showP...
does not lead to any info about Costco to be build in the Regal/IHOP mall.

Enough is enough with the large retail stores. Route 9 North near Texas Rd is inheriting a new shoppng area, to add a Costco to the same area would back the traffic to Freehold. If Costco wants to come to the area, suggest they move to the old KMart spot in Old Bridge. That shopping area, except for Pathmark, staples, Rag shop & Joyce Leslies are empty, many stores on the KMart side are closed. We do not need anymore stores, you are ruining this nice surburban area.Stop, think before it is too late.

On May 2nd, the approval of a Costco was granted by unanimous vote. The Regal movie theater will be demolished and a Costco plus a gas station will be built on the site. Though the the Costco will not be directly on the footprint of the theater, it will reside on the entire site that covers Marlboro and Old Bridge. Route 9 north will get an additional lane to accommodate the traffic. No commuter parking will be affected.

great, I love Costco. I wonder how they will add another lane...being that they just created a turning lane for Texas road. What they should do is construct a pedestrian bridge so us bus patrons can cross can cross the highway safely, and not have to walk to the light and then walk across the jughandle to get to the parking lot.
