Do they still print a paper? It's not online anymore. Is there no news to report on in Okmulgee?

They do still print a paper, however pointless it is. They have a "weekend edition" that comes out on Saturday and they dont print for monday at all i dont think. And now for the weekend paper, its henryetta and okmulgee together. Still dont think that there is enough news in it to justify wasting the paper and ink though.

From reading this board, it sounds like Okmulgee has changed for the worse. No newspaper, no good jobs, lots of problems there. I live in TX but my dad lived up there for years after retiring from his job here. Also had family there and we visited every summer during the 60's and 70's. I just loved it. My dad died in 2000 and all of the other family is dead now, too, so I don't ever come up that way any more. But I used to think I would like to live in Okmulgee. This will sound crazy but I LOVED the way that the tap water tasted there.....it is probably way cleaner than the Houston water supply. Thanks.

The last I knew, the same family owned the newspapers in Okmulgee and in Coffeyville, Kansas. Not long ago the Coffeyville newspaper dropped its Sunday edition and more recently it started publishing only Monday, Wednesday and Friday editons. People aren't happy about the change.

I'm told the same family also owns the Sand Springs newspaper. I'm curious about what the situation there is.

Correction: the Sapulpa newspaper -- NOT Sand Springs.

I disagree. The Okmulgee Daily Times is a great home town newspaper. they do tell the truth. and Herman is a very experienced and hard working writer. friendly, as well.

No this is not true. He lets O.G. Corky Thompson write letters to the editor. All he can write about is non-sense that makes no sense at all. Everyone in Beggs wants Thompson kicked off the Council before the town collapes from uncontrollable laughter.

the okmulgee daily times is a local ray of light on the area people, and especially the area youth that are sptlighted and recognized for various activities they are involved in and accomplishments they achieve. providing a deserved opportunity to shine for area youth, whos stories would not be given such priority or consideration in other news outlets. I often wonder how they have time to cover the five or six surrounding towns youth sports events so promptly.its like theyre in five or six places at once. For this one small aspect of all the positive the daily times provides, the okmulgee daily times should be appauded. Thank you for the dedicated support of area youth.

The tap water here comes out a nasty brown or rust most of the time! I and our neighbors refuse to drink it! Have had several loads of laundry ruined from the city water! We've tried to get something done and the city just makes one excuse after the other!

The Daily times is a jerk paper. They like to liem and print letters to the editor. Pee Wee Herman and the editor in chief have alot in common. Especially when it comes to their opinion of that crazy old councilman that sleeps with the open records act under his pillow aftwer he wipes with it. Then he spends hours entertaining the D.A. and his staff with false and stupid accusations with Ron Ballard at the wheel. Two of a kind...Neither cares about the other.....Huh ?
