How about you let US choose??
I can tell you from personal experience...these cigarettes are MORE dangerous than the old ones. No one even KNEW this law was being passed until AFTER it was passed. I started to notice a difference in my smokes a few months ago, then I did research and learned about this new law. Before this change took place, I NEVER burnt anything. I am always careful when smoking and also considerate of others when I am. I do not smoke around non-smokers, I put my trash in the garbage and not on the ground. But, I feel like I should still have rights because this is MY CHOICE.
Since this change, I have burnt a hole in my car, 2 holes in my couch. Not because I dropped a cigarette or did anything irresponsible. Because when the cigarette gets to that "fire safe" paper, the burning ashes get very big and just fall off. onto the carpet, onto the couch, in the car...
Im my opinion - these new cigarettes will only cause more damage.
Someone back me up, here!!

Surveys have been taken and it has been learned that 98% of all chain smokers smoke cigarettes instead of chains!

Maybe you never started a fire, but lots of devestating fires have been started by people tossing their cigarettes out of car windows (think those huge fires out West) and having those butts land on dry brush or falling asleep with a lit cigarette, or having a smoldering butt fall into furniture resulting in a house in flames.

Personally, I hate seing people toss their butts to the ground or out of car windows. Who do they think will pick them up?

And what's YOUR addiction, asshole?? We all have (at least) one. YOU wake up. Do you know how many contaminants there are in the "fresh" air you breathe every day? And I wonder how much dust mite excrement (that's poop on your level) you breathe in every night while you're sleeping on your nice clean pillow. Dander, allergens, carbon monoxide. I'm tired of smokers getting blamed for everything.

I COMPLETELY AGREE!! I never throw my butts on the ground or out my car window. That's what ashtrays are for. But my point here is, do you really think "fire safe cigarettes" are going to stop fires? What I'm trying to tell you is there is no such thing as a fire safe cigarette. It's like saying "fire-safe electricity" or a "fire-safe candle." How about a "fire-safe match?" Does that sound logical to you?? These cigarettes have caused me to burn MORE things than before the "fire safe" mandate. The cherries fall off, the ashes fall off and burn whatever they land on. If you threw a fire safe cigarette out the window onto dry brush, dropped it in a couch, or fall asleep while smoking (answer...DONT SMOKE IN BED!!!!!) it would just as easily start a fire as the normal cigs. It's just a ridiculous law aimed at discriminating against smokers once again and making us look like bad people, as the jerk above called me - a crackhead (I mean, come ON!)

Shouldn't we try fire-safe CARPET or fire-safe BEDDING? Let the things that are SUPPOSED to burn, burn.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE, I THINK I'M GOING TO HAVE TO BUY MY CIGARETTE LIGHTERS MORE OFTEN NOW! I'M LIGHTING UP ABOUT THREE TIMES MORE THAN I USED TO! I'M GETTING CALLOUSES ON MY FLICKING THUMB. I HAVE TO KEEP DRAGGING ON MY BUTT TO KEEP IT GOING SO I KNOW I'M SUCKING IN MORE CANCER CAUSING CHEMICALS THAN I USED TO. I THINK I'LL JUST KEEP A CANDLE BURNING SO I CAN LEAN OVER FOR A RELIGHT. I'LL PROBABLY CAUSE A HOUSE FIRE WHEN MY RELIGHTER CATCHES THE DRAPES ON FIRE.

I guess you're just one of those people that thinks they have the right to tell everyone else how to live their lives. I'm sure you're the true example of perfection.
