They wont be here long.
Drive past Sonic on any given Sunday and notice the stalls filled with cars. They don't expect to do the kind of numbers McDonald's, BK or KFC does, but there is a niche for the operation. The owner's no dummy. It's not as if he opened a belt or short-sleeve shirt store.(Ever go in some of the specialty item stores and the clerk appears shocked as heii to see you? Then he is annoyed becasue you're only looking for directions to a Wal-Mart).
Build the calories and they will come. Keep your overhead down and increase profits. That's business 101.

Yea b.c people are gonna flock to the 4th subway in chambersburg when the others are 5 min. away. Not to mention that Jerry's Pizza and Subs was in the spot where subway was and that is gone. Quiznos is right there as well. People can just go to giant and order a sub and it's not even as expensive and much better quality. Sonic will be there for a long time as it is almost always busy.

Obviously - again - you people have no concept of how businesses operate.

First of all, Sonic remains packed at all hours of the day. It's one of the few places that are open late and have drive-in service. They're also a huge hit with teenagers, the demographic that seems to have the most (parent provided) disposable income these days.

Circuit City failed not because people didn't shop at Circuit City, but because they had a faulty business model. Same thing with Blockbuster. Sonic's business model is rock solid. Cheap food, cheap prices, very little overhead, and low-paid staff. The success or failure of a business has nothing to do with whether or not 'you' like it. I hate McDonald's but they seem to be doing ok - and I'd venture to argue even that Sonic's lousy food is better than McDonalds' lousy food any day.

Sonic will not only succeed in its current location, but will likely be one of the more profitable Sonic's around. Swing by this weekend - Friday or Saturday night - around 9-10pm. Then tell me they "won't be there long."

Did Sonics just reduce the size of its large drinks and increase the price? If that's true, I have to make sure I only buy during Happy Hour.

Quiznos is pretty darn good. Their prime rib sub is great.
