One thing about Oklahoma and it's residents...we are very patriotic. We tend to stand up and defend our country, our state and our families. So say what you want. You're obviously talkers. Oklahomans are DOERS.
No doubt....with the delusion of buybull thumping comes a vast array of delusional thought...The patriotism you speak of is more of a knee jerk, flag waving nature not backed by any informed thinking. You are a robot and that makes you more unpatriotic than being informed.

Really? With all these military bases around Oklahoma, you think we're not patriotic? I guess you think all the military personnel are uninformed as well? You're the delusional one. You obviously know nothing of what you speak.
And you're calling me a robot because...???

Noah-Tail and Bed Fruck are two liberal pansies who know nothing about patriotism, the principles upon which our country was founded or what it means to have character. Theyre typical gender-confused at best liberal pansies. They probably give each other rusty trombones on a daily basis

Patriotic? Bless your dumb heart...It's called jobs...and it was created by the military industrial complex....you have so much to learn it might be hopeless.

Waving a flag and supporting American Empire isn't patriotism....it's intellectual laziness created by manufactured consent.

military bases here have nothing to do with being patriotic. they were placed here by the federal government because:
a) central location
b) cheap land
c) cheap labor

Ok...so what is patriotism to you? Notice I am being respectful and withholding from calling you names. Perhaps you might think of doing the same.

Liberals cant be respectful. Its not in their makeup. They view anyone whos conservative and/or patriotic as inferior and deserving of contempt. They have fragile arguments and even more fragile psyches and have to bolster their egos and their arguments by being mean sprited as sholes.

Looks like you should ask the like-thinking moron just bellow your comment.

Being ignorant of one's countries policies and crimes isn't patriotism....most ignorance in American is self-imposed.

Patriotism is loyalty or devotion to ones country. It has nothing to do with the military whatsoever.

An important part of being loyal is dissent. When the warts are obvious it should be pointed out....the "love it or leave it" horseshit isn't patriotism....it's being a ideological robot.

I agree on what you say about patriotism but I do believe the men and women in the military are some of the most patriotic people in our country. Most join because they want to serve our country and show their loyalty and devotion to it.
I was staying in Wyoming when Obama took office. I witnessed (not just heard) their views and shared my own on some of his policies, particularly gun control. I moved here shortly after and witnessed the same only not as 'loud' of a level. There are patriots and 'pretend' patriots in every state.
When I agree with policies, I smile. When I disagree, I let it be known. I tried to instill that in my son as well, that you should never just 'go with the flow'. Always voice your opinion not only because it's your right but also because it is important.
My son is 22 years old and he is very active in the political arena in the state where he lives. He is NOT a politician. He is someone who studies our country and the world around him. He makes his decisions based on what he believe to be true and right. I don't agree with a lot of what he believes in but you know what? It is HIS RIGHT to believe what he believes just like it's your right to believe what you do.
You are right that dissent is important. I was just talking with a friend today and saying how in the 60's people made things happen because they joined together, made their opinions be known and made sacrifices to make a difference. Unfortunately, it is the 'me' generation now.

These liberals would have us believe that George Washington and the rest of the founding fathers were marxists like themselves. They ignore or rewrite history anytime it disagrees with their collectivist idealogy. They hate free enterprise and if any of them has gained any measure of success, he feels guilty about it. They know nothing of patriotism and show nothing but contempt for the principles upon which this country was founded.

Patriotism in the military is over sold...brainwashing young minds into being a killer of people they don't know is what the military is. Since this country was founded the poor have done the fighting and dying and that hasn't changed. There were exceptions in WWII but the military now,is still largely made up of those born with less educational and economic opportunity.

Ask yourself why Harvard and Yale, etc. grads aren't in Afghanistan and Iraq or the military period. Are they not patriots? The USA has been very good to them and their trust fund families....why aren't they serving.....That's part of the denial in America. If the gullible simple-minded yet loyal citizens ever wake up, the gig will be over for the American oligarchy.

The best thing you can do for your son is show him how to research but sides of an issue.....corporate media is nothing but half truths, lies and a soft peddle so information is the key. Does he keep up with Wikileaks?

Well with most people in the US being middle class, it would stand to reason that most in the military would be of middle class.
I believe you are a well educated individual.
ANYONE, regardless of ethnic, gender, religion or economic background can contribute a LOT in their lifetime. Just because someone doesn't have the means or IQ to attend Harvard or Yale doesn't mean they are any less productive or important than those who do.
My son reads the newspapers and watches the news with the knowledge that most of the news is designed to sell papers and get ratings. He knows that every story is edited to get the reader/viewer attention.
A friend of mine owns a driving school (DUI type) in another state. There were accusations that most driving schools there were selling passing grades. When the news media asked him for an interview, he agreed thinking he would explain what that state's laws were and why it was nearly impossible to sell passing grades. When the media was done with editing the story, they chopped it up so much that it looked like he was admitting to selling passing grades and there was a huge investigation. He was cleared of all charges but not until it nearly wiped him out. So yes, my son knows the drill there. He uses the newspapers, tv, internet (including Wikileaks and BBC) and also attends functions where he can learn more about the issues without the 'help' of the media. He voices his opinion every chance he gets. I am very proud of him for not being the type that sits on the couch and watches the news on tv believing everything that's being said. He is very active in his community. He also has two jobs and is attending college full time.
And the only reason he didn't join the military is they wouldn't accept him because of his medical conditions.

I think you'll find that half ARE NOT middle class...they might think of themselves as middle class and that figure might have been more true a few years ago.

Whatever the percentage, it is in decline...and a very fast decline. Same is not true with military...a disgracefull number of active military families are on food stamps and are in the service for health coverage, a chance to go to college, a job or other basic economic reasons.

The income disparity between rich and poor in the US is a great as it ever has been...that has caused stagnation. The rich are paying less taxes than they were in 1950....and the entire country has been in decline since 1980...living on borrowed money.

I'm glad your son realizes there is no free press or independent media in the US...or very little...Anyone that sells corporate advertising isn't free to tell the truth, including the Sallisaw newspaper....My advice to him is internet...the BBC is good but Aljzeera is better for foreign news...Free Speech TV and University channel....lot's of independent publications....all sides should be included but the truth about our government manipulations will never be told...at least not in a timely manner.
