Yes there are lots and lots of people that receive the SNAP Program benefits. There are even the military families that have to have help from time to time also until they get on their feet. The unemployment rate in OKC is not very good right now. I work close to that capacity that deals with assistance to families. Some people have to get a certain type of formula, or ingredients that the children or baby needs...and that or those items are very exspensive. These programs are meant to be a help in times of need...not really intended to live on forever and ever...or to be abused.

Unfortunately, the number of long-term welfare members increases every year, and at an alarming rate. Welfare's no longer something to be ashamed of, it's a social status.

OK, the food stamp program exist in the AG bill to add support to the crops that farmers grow. And to help maintai a steady crop planting each year. The food stamp program sprang out of the Commodities food program that began in the thirties to feed the starving poor in thsi country during the Great depression. And have you Distinct ever asked yourself what caused those people to fall out of the middle class into the lower minimum wages they now earn. Because the corporations no longer have a loyalty to any country, not even ours. Their loyalty is to the dollar--over 3 million jobs have been lost to offshoring as well as the offshoring of over 60,000 factories. Even Romney has invested in companies which offshore factories and jobs as well as many other capital investment venturers. So there goes our little world to offshoring. If youare retired you may not have anything to worry about, maybe. But if you still work for a livng =, even as a CEO--your job may be gone tomorrow. See it happen to a friend of mine who was the CEO of a compamu who downsized. He became a food stamp recipient. lost his nice home, and his large chevy van and 2 cars, kids droppped out of colllege. So life can be down sized for any one or every one is a fact of live. Even your investments can be downsized. Yep thats just a fact of life.

...and I suppose you think that the government's going to drive corporations out and down if Obama gets another term. Unfortunately, the government is either funded by corporate hollywood or corporate elsewhere.

Dinstinctly, I figure you are a big city boy grew up there and never learn how to live or survive with out a grocery store on every corner. Now ask yourself if you could survive with out money or that corner grocer. Welll OK, alll I need is an ax shelfter m my rifle and pistol, fishing line and hooks and I can live off the lan. And of course my skinning knife. And when I am traveling light i usually take along my alice pack. With thsoe feww necessities a person can life off the land with what the good lord places before him. A nother that comes in handy is an army shovel with a shovel head as well a a pick head to be used for cleanin or digging a spring out for a water supply Food stamp are fine to keep one from starving but there may come a day when even the goverment fails the peole and the stores close up shop and only teh rich have the money. Recon then some peopel may get hungry enough to turn canibil istic, if they get hungry enough, yep they could do such thing if they get hungry enough,Heck I forgot the matches, except I don't need them either.

Distinct, but soem of you folks surely do need to dop some worrying about the goverment and its future. Because with out all that subsidies , same as food stamps, that big busines gets and if thsoe tax dollars keep slowing down and the revenue keeps dropping it anit only the food stamp getters that wil have to worry but the big coroporations because there will be a drop to nothing of the many subsidies they get also. And then the failures willl start and even the products the chinese build in their factories will no longer be sold her and the market crssh willl also hit there too. So there will be retribution that hits the rich as except for their cash in banks of which the banks do not carry very much cash on hand ecept to handle their daily busness. So even the rich will be stankding thsoe food lines, well just maybe Just a little look see at what the future may holdd for people. But of course it is jsut a maybe happening--but that cliff is just around the corner is it not.

Lived my first four years in rural Wisconsin, and then moved to Oklahoma. I'm pretty well-off with homeland procedure on all accounts.

Tell this to the "Right To Life" folks. They have no problem protesting and killing in the name of unborn children. Even the governor and state legislature proposed a "life begins at conception" bill. Before you get all holier than thou, take time to protest the anti-abortion crowd. That is unless you are one of them. Let them be born but do nothing for them after that.

The SNAP and WIC Programs are supposed to be a hand up, til' ones can stand on their own in life. The programs weren't meant to be life long hand-outs! In some cases our elderly have to depend on it...a lot them worked for 20 plus years on jobs so they gave their blood, sweat for it. Unlike a lot of people in society today don't know what that means to get a job and work for what you want and need.(Thats another topix) There are military families that also get on the WIC Programs too.

It is difficult for many people to make it in this economy. Food stamps sometimes allow the lights to stay on or the AC to keep running.
Not everyone on food stamps or welfare is a douche.
We need ways to identify who needs help and how much help they need. Then we need to monitor the system for fraud.
I have no idea how the system is monitored. Having drug tests may identify other problems and scams. It's not a panacea. there are many scams out there.
COOKER, there are standards that have to be met to get foood stamps. You must meet a certain criteria and fillout the papers and you must have the answers from your checking account to the cars you own, whether you work or not, disabled , on S.S. And if you do not meet those guidelines you are not elgible for food stamps. And a post office box for an address does not work.

OK, I never said Obama was driving out corporations--alot of the richest corporations do not pay taxes and have not for years. did you know that Romney has bought shares in a chinese goverment owned oil company that bought drilling rights in IRAN. the way you get arougnd investmenting in companies that do business with Iran is used a foreign subsidiary to do that buying of investments Your friend Romney has all kindsof subsidiaries in offhsore banks and use of mail bos drops. I for got he is not in partner ship now with Bain that part is now in a blind trust--at least a half blind trust. He has more investments offshore accounte to avoid payig taxes in America. You are probably one of thsoe fox news watchers--I found out that you do not even have to be a thinker to watch the fox comedy hours. I seem to remember you are not a member of the 47 percenters. About July or so when Romney figured out that he was going to run for president he sold off his part in teh Chinese goverment oil company--be kind of odd to be part owner in a chines goverment oil company--that old boy has no loyalty to any countryor even the U.S. only to greed.

Hey, pappy. Have missed you. Dog with the ruptured discs is doing very well. No surgery. Time and joint supplements and exercise.

Pappy the Romney's assets are held in a 'blind trust.' All buying, selling and other activites are made by a trustee, perhaps up to three trustees, and they have no input into the decisions.

The Obama's should have the same arrangement, I know it is required by law at a certain level of government, and I am absolutely sure Bush II and Laura did for the eight years he was in the White House.

Look, he's released his returns. His overall tax rate over ten years was just slightly above 20%. Everything is on the up and up or he would never have been nominated by the GOP. So let's move on.

What do you think about Obama's recent, quiet order to release 1/3rd of the detainees at Gitmo. Less than two weeks after a former detainee helped coordinate the bombing of our embassy and murder of four Americans?

I am a single parent whose father is behind on child support as well but i work two jobs to make sure my child and I are taken care of... So when people as Why cant they get off welfare ask why would they want too!!!
if you witness a business accepting food stamps for alcohol and tobacco then turn them in, an undercover officer will watch that business
