Double murder, suicide feared after Choctaw family found dead

This was the scene at 125 Creek Hollow Drive in Choctaw, after three bodies were found Tuesday morning. BY JIM BECKEL, THE OKLAHOMAN

CHOCTAW — A man found the bodies of his 14-year-old granddaughter and her mother Tuesday before police discovered the man's son dead in the same house, authorities said.

William Farmer found Paula Farmer, 38, and Kayla Farmer, 14, shot to death in the house where they lived at 125 Creek Hollow Drive shortly after 8 a.m., Choctaw Police Chief Billy Carter said.
Investigating officers later discovered the body of Robert Farmer, 40, with a gun by his side.

My comment
I wonder if they will do powder test on his hands to see if he was holding the gun when it fired?

Robert Farmer was William Farmer's son and was married to Paula Farmer. Kayla Farmer was their daughter.
"The evidence we found at the scene is leaning toward a double homicide and suicide,” Carter said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon in front of the house in the Creek Hollow addition.
Carter said Paula Farmer recently told others she wanted to leave her husband. Before Tuesday, there had been no calls to police about disturbances at the house.
Officials with the state medical examiner's office will inspect the bodies this morning, said Kevin Rowland, the examiner's chief investigator. Carter, who would not identify a shooter, said police will continue investigating and are awaiting additional information from the examiner's office.
"We still have a lot of people we want to talk to,” Carter said.
Police arrived at the house after receiving a 911 call.
"My granddaughter and ... my daughter-in-law are dead,” William Farmer told a 911 dispatcher. "They're shot in my house across the street.”
Farmer went to the house to see why his son did not show up for work Tuesday morning as a security guard at Remington Park Racino, Carter said.
When Farmer arrived, he found the bodies of Paula and Kayla Farmer, 911 transcripts show. He then went across the street to call police.
William Farmer is listed in Oklahoma County records as the owner of the house where the bodies were found.
When police arrived, they found Robert Farmer's body in the bedroom with a gun near his body, Carter said. Paula Farmer was found in the bed and Kayla Farmer was found in the dining room.
There was no sign of a struggle in the house, and next-door neighbors said they did not hear gunfire.
Police found Robert Farmer's brother, David Farmer, unharmed at the house. He told police he did not hear gunfire and did not know what happened.
David Farmer was questioned and held on an unrelated violation of a deferred sentence, Carter said.
"We detained him obviously because he was in the house, but we don't have any evidence that he was involved,” Carter said.
Kayla Farmer was a student at Choctaw Junior High School.
Choctaw-Nicoma Park schools Superintendent Jim McCharen said Kayla Farmer was in the eighth grade and was a member of the school band.
She also was a student aide in the counseling office.
"We're shocked that we've lost a student in a sudden fashion, but the manner in which she died causes everyone to be in disbelief,” McCharen said.
Counselors will be brought in today to help students and staff cope with the loss

i never got the chance to meet you but when i attended cjhs last year i heard alot about what happened. i cant help but question why and all the sweet things i heard about kayla i never understood what would possess someone to do this. theres no way a person can get so mad it seems logical to kill someone you love. i saw the bench they have in honor of kayla and i asked a few people i knew in school and they told me what had happened. im not really sure what to say but im praying for you and i hope your in a better place now. im praying for your family and all the friends you left behind. i know it doesnt seem like much and i never got to meet you so i cant say you were specail to me or anything, i cant recall memories or anything liek the others but i do know what they are going through. just recently i lost one of my best friends not in this way but another. and its just the same isnt it? young people who dont get to see adulthood. it just makes me thank god that im alive and thank him for the things i take granted everyday. i used to be a cutter but after realizeing how fragile life really is ive broke that habit and i havent given in to it in 6 months. i want to live to the fullest just because you and my friend... cant. sometimes people take like for granted but never again will i be one of those people.ive seen first hand that life isnt always guarunteed and that people in your life can disapear ina second and change your whole world. my heart goes out to your friends and family.

It's been almost four years, time is flying by without you here. I know though that you are in a much better place. There has been times that are hard and some that are easy. Now that you would be a adult I know that you would be going through the same thing we all are right now. I miss you and always will. You would have had a awesome senior year. I love you and everyone still misses you so much.
--- With much love.

It only takes a couple of seconds to say hello to someone but I have noticed I will spend the rest of my life trying to say goodbye to you..
