So then why is this in the news? She admittedly violated school rules.
It's a story about how sick and hypocritical and passive aggressive and backwards such institutions are, imo.

It's a story about how an idiot found a "hypocritical, passive/aggressive, backwards" institution with a clearly stated code of conduct, chose that school, enrolled in that school, signed the code of conduct, and then stupidly flaunted violating that contract by getting married a few months before graduation. She's an idiot for making such unbelievably stupid choices. Anyone that stupid and arrogant does not deserve a university degree.

Sometimes its the homophobic parents; who pay the tuition; who dictate which school they send their lesbian to

I agree going to a talibangelical institution is a nutty sort of mistake in the first place.

But as the article clearly points out other students violate other aspects of the code and do not get thrown out. That's about only open and proud lgbt students who get thrown out in this manner.

You sound like another iteration of Foxy.

That's not so clear. No details, just her word and we already know she can't keep that.

Just another person that believes that a contractual agreement shouldn't apply to them.
.
She should be more concerned with her reputation as a person and not her sexuality, because it is much more important when it comes to her future.

Actually selectively enforced laws and contracts are invalid.(Or would be in any fair system - in reality such things happen all the time.)

Concerned about a reputation...don't make me laugh...

You think sexuality is a nasty nasty subject....

And your reputation...you hide behind made up names and lie quite a bit...never worrying about your reputation cause you have a fake name when you post....no one knows who you are like this young lady ....she was brave....unlike you

LOL! Says the person that believes Plan B and abortions is the answer for birth control. Just because you were stupid enough to post your real name on a forum then choice to insult everyone doesn't mean I should. Karen Janbaz.

I find it odd that you chose to prove God doesn't exist by conducting your life like an animal that is driven by nothing more than instinct.

The lifestyle covenant is BS.

Who would want to attend such a worthless institution anyway?

That's not my point.

You don't have the facts straight. She was on a basketball scholarship. She violated the code of conduct policy of a PRIVATE university. Do you really believe that SWCU has no right to not to rescind her scholarship and should be made to pay for her education?

She knew what her personal choice could cause her to lose and now she wants to play the victim.

Poor So what...so busy telling women how to live their life and what to do from behind your computer screen....

Theirs plenty of living born children right here in Oklahoma...waiting for someone to adopt them or be their foster parents

And Plan B is just a large dose of birth control pills...but then again....you wouldn't know that...your mentally challenged in the make up of birth control pills and what they do..

Because human beings make mistakes....

And their born gay

And their born straight

And some are born haters like you

Cause really So What...when did you decide that you like boys....and plan your sexuality...from birth...lol

God same us from your Christians....their so judgmental....and hate filled..

They've decided to do your job here on earth.....from behind their computer screens

Very good point!

The answer to the question is- she did. She just didn't want to play by the rules.

"Selective rules" are ones which aren't applied equally to her as they are to a heterosexual who violates some clause about fraternization, or drug use, or cheating.

These bigoted fundie institutions will be "private" when these freeeks get no government research dollars (they probably get little,) Pell grant money, GSL money.

You still are missing my point.

She knew what their policies were going into her marriage because she had been going there for at least three years. They didn't take her scholarship because she was a Lesbian, they took her scholarship because she married one. She gambled her scholarship away.

What she did would be the same as someone going into a strip club and complaining to management that their was nudity and then calling a news station and complaining that their rights were violated because they were kicked out

You may think that this is bad press for the University, but they don't see it that way. They believe that it sends a message that you need to go elsewhere if this is your lifestyle. And you should if you're offended by intolerance.

They are a Christian University. They pander to Christians. They are afraid that by allowing Gays and Lesbians in their school it is going hurt their business. And judging by the way MOST self-proclaimed Christians conduct themselves in Oklahoma they would be correct.

Again, there are lots of students at these evilgelical joke places who fraternize with someone of the opposite sex, or get caught in some other infraction - drinking, cheating, lying, taking the lawd's name in vain - who don't get outright tossed out a couple of weeks short of their graduation.

It's that sick, fundie's special animus against people who wish to be openly lgbt. That's what selective enforcement means...for the benefit of any talibangelical mouthbreathers present.

Of course she obviously should have waited the extra months before announcing her marriage (and people shouldn't go to such junk places to start with,) but that doesn't absolve the silly institution of "higher learning" from its own double standards, imo, in how it punishes students for infractions of the "covenant."

BTW, repellent, reprobate bigots will go to any torturous lengths to try and justify their homophobia.
