Why be obsessed with guns?

What is this obsession that we have with guns? I can see a use for them for hunting but this world was doing okay before guns were invented (in fact the world was doing fine before a LOT of things were invented.) The saddest part is that people with guns can do bad things or make unfortunate mistakes. Children accidently killing their father with a pistol that was not loaded. Toddlers blowing off their faces with a gun they 'shouldn't' have been able to reach. A boyfriend killing his girlfriend cause she broke up with him. I could go on and on. Yes it is true that guns don't kill people, people do. It is also true that people with guns kill people. As I understand God, He knew this was going to be a possibility but there is another way. It would be nice to UNITE our free will to get along and embrace the diversity of the universe.

WOW. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Adam & Eve never ate of the fruit? Look, idealizing a world without guns is one thing. But living in a world with guns is another. You are welcome to not have a gun. But it is not an obsession to desire to protect one's self, family, and home from the people out there who do have guns, or otherwise do intend harm.

A firearm, whether it is a rifle, gun, pistol or revolver, is just a kind of bow, which is just a kind of spear, which is just a long axe, which is just a kind of knife, which is just a sharp rock, which is a slightly better weapon then a fist.

If you take one away all you really do is work back down the list.

The problem is that you are not asking the right question.

The real question is what is life like when our government has good weapons and the people have poor weapons.

That is the entire reason for the second amendment. That is the only reason for the second amendment.

The second amendment has nothing to with hunting or protecting home and hearth against criminals.

The problem we as a nation have is this; those that forget the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.

If one wants to understand why there is a second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the answer, of course, can be found in the history of our nation in the years just before our Revolution.

I'm not going to spell it out for you, other then tell you where you can find it.
