Rev. Spriggs just told the truth. God says homosexuality is an abomination! God tells us to love one another NOT make love with one another!

Courage? That's why he has been ignoring calls from the media, I suppose.

He has brought disgrace to this area and his flock are everything that's wrong with this country.

I will celebrate when their tax-exempt status is revoked.

Paying or not paying taxes is not a prerequisite for freedom of speech. Rev. Spriggs was speaking for himself and has every right to voice his opinion no matter where he is! He was speaking to the congregation of the church. No where has the church itself said this, which is the tax-exempt entity!
When a person is a Reverend of a Church and is standing at the podium of that church and speaking, that person is filling the role of teaching whatever faith they follow. When that person brings politics to that same podium, they are no long teaching their faith, they are talking politics. To use that podium for "free speech" violates the separation of church and state. It also leans towards something that is in the Bible of Render unto Ceasar.

Hogwash!!! No man or woman knows for an indisputable fact that this God even exists much less what s/he thinks or even may have said. Mr. Spriggs spoke what he BELIEVES! Nothing more, nothing less. All any of you have to go on is a book written by men ages ago and even the writers themselves didn't agree with one another on anything in the Book. Mathew, Mark, Luke and John were supposed to have BEEN there yet their Books are only similar to one another. What's up with that anyway? You have based your beliefs on a book without giving an ounce of thought on what it contains and then allowed yourselves to be swayed by peer pressure and fear of what someone may think of you if you choose to refute it. What really galls me most about the entire scam is you folks can't even practice what you preach. If someone doesn't agree with your beliefs they're shunned,,,, yet we're supposed to love one another. We shouldn't judge one another,,,, unless of course you're a non-believer in which case you'll burn in hell because the God who loves you so much will place you there. If someone is in need we're supposed to practice charity,,,, as long as it doesn't come out of "my" pocket. Unless of course it makes one look good to their peers for being charitable. Thou shalt not covet yet the entire North American continent was forcefully taken from the original inhabitants by Christians. I have yet in my 57 years of life encountered anyone more self centered, self righteous nor more hypocritical than a self proclaimed Christian.

Don't forget this part about women being forced to marry their rapist.

"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives."

I'm proud to say that I am a Christian, but just because I go to a church and the pastor tells me to do or not to do a certain thing doesn't mean I'm going do what he says. I do have a mind of my own and I follow my heart, not what someone tells me.
Everyone has to pay for what they do in the end, so it's not for me to judge. I've always wondered if a gay person wanted to attend a church service, would they be allowed? Is it not suppose to be Gods house and not mans? It reminds me of the Johnny Paycheck song "The Outlaws Prayer" If you havn't heard this song, check it out. A lot of truth in the words. And it's a true story. God Bless

Once more, the word collar is a euphemism. A totally harmless word. As for trying to force my beliefs down anyones throat in this thread or elsewhere, better go back and read the posts again. Not once did I say someone was going to burn in hell for violating my tenets. The only thing I'm guilty of is not having a problem stating that imho, Christianity is nothing more than a scam and trying to sway my position by giving quotes from the bible isn't going to change that position. I'm also guilty of pointing out that using the excuse the bible states homosexuality/bisexuality is a sin doesn't hold water because I'm not the only one who views christianity as a scam. If anyone that is against same sex relationships they would simply admit that either [1] it frightens them,[2] makes them uncomfortable or [3] outright disgusts them,[4] they're ashamed to let their peers know they may not have much of a problem with the topic. All reasonable feelings for wanting to avoid the topic. If anyone does happen to fall into those categories, they have the right to turn their heads no differently than changing the station on their tv's or being honest or remaining dishonest on their opinion.

Btw, my idea's aren't idiotic. They're backed up by science,,, are yours? I can answer that for you. Nope!

There are other things in the bible that are "abominations", which sins are the worst?

Sin is Sin. There are no "Little" sins or "Big" sins. God is no respector of men. Any SIN is against God. I believe that there is a PLACE and TIME for everything. BUT just because Bro. Spriggs made that comment during a church sermon DOESN'T mean that everyone in that audience WILL actually DO what Bro. Ronnie SUGGESTED!! He stated that he "feels everyone should NOT vote for Obama BECAUSE of his stand on GAY MARRIAGE. As far as gay marriage goes - it IS in the Bible, it IS an abomination in the eyes of the Lord. And GOD is the JUDGE AND JURY, when all is said and done.

Eating shrimp and other seafood without scales is also an abomination. What do I do? I've ate both shrimp and lobster!
