I can't believe that there are people who are still this stupid and ignorant in this day and age. As a species, we humans are beyond advanced. We rule science, technology, and medicine. We've been to the deepest depths of the ocean. We've walked on the moon and sent machines to Mars. I'm typing this status on a computer the size or a book. As a planet...as human beings...we are more connected now than what we have ever been before.

All of that and we still discriminate against people whose sexual preferences deviate from our own or because someone's skin color isn't the same as ours.

I'm not gay or bisexual. I'm a straight, married, white male in his late twenties. So why do I care? I care because I just have this odd thought process that tells me that every human being regardless of anything should have the same rights and privileges as everyone else. Silly isn't it?

Is that what you were trying to do to these children, destroy their lives?

Anyone who would do this to children deserves it.

JustLookWhoItIs: Van Wert man held in bomb threat case Jonathan R Murphy, Jr.,

VAN WERT, Ohio - A 19-year-old local man is to appear in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court today after being charged with making a bomb threat last week to Van Wert High School.
Jonathan R. Murphy, Jr., was indicted on a charge of making false alarms, a fifth-degree felony. Police said a 911 call May 4 claimed a bomb had been planted at the school.
Officers found a suspicious bag in the junior high wing, and both sections of the school were evacuated. A bomb squad from the Lima police department later determined the bag was harmless.
Mr. Murphy was being held yesterday in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

Indiana is morphing into a very backwards state! Even if this woman does not personally agree with the gay lifestyle, to publicly state they are people "without purpose" is an odd choice of words. Her tone feeds directly into the bullying problem, and it's coming from a school official! As with any demographic, some in the LGBT community are high achievers and some are not. Even if her statement were true, since when is one required to be a purpose filled individual to attend a prom? A lot of straight students should be excluded as well if that's the case! Sadly, this woman will probably have the support of many in her community. Maybe even a majority! Really disgusting!

Very well said and I would have to agree with all of it. It' really is a sad thing if you think about it. There's a photoshopped photo that's been going around the Internet with two troupe or protestors, one on the top of the pic and one on the bottom. They look a lot alike but the one on the top is people protesting interracial marriage and the bottom is the people protesting gay marriage. That picture says a lot with no captions even.

the whole 'sanctity of marriage' bullsh!t pisses me off...i don't see how someone else's marriage would devalue another person's...esp. in this day in age when hetrosexual marriage only has a 50/50 chance of making it. and with all the hollywood crap type marriages that last a few days or a month, that, that would be a bigger issue then 2 people who wanted to be together and care for eachother and had the same rights.

Exactly. And usually the ones talking about 'sanctity of marriage' are the ones quoting from and referring to the Bible. Obviously you'd see where I have a big issue with that one all alone and by itself. Still, are we going to define what marriage really means and what keeps it 'sacred' by looking for answers in an ancient book of Jewish folklore? And if we are, then what about all the rest that's in there? Why do we ignore those rules and not the others? Have you ever noticed now most of the time when you have one of thee people like we are talking about who thinks they know what God wants..isn't it strange how what God wants always seeks to be the exact same thing they they want the, selves?

oh ofcourse, the bible has been used for thousands of years by people who just want to push their agenda on others. kind of like how 'thou shall not kill' is a commandment, but yet how many wars have been waged in religion's name? it's just alot easier to get people to go along with what they want if they tell them they are 'doing it for the lord'...or 'the lord's work' yet, they want to call themselves 'christians' all while throwing everything jesus taught ie:'love one another','do not judge' right out the window. you know, it's actually pretty sneaky, i should start my own religion lol.

You idiots talk about devaluing other people and then you trash and bash and bullying people on Topix.

You idiots talk about the Bible as though you were an authority, but you really don't know anything about it. That is the height of foolishness, stupidity and ignorance. You take text out of context to make yourself look smart, but it just reveals how dumb you really are.

The bible is a JOKE! No matter which way you look at it, and it is forced into everyone's face and lives daily! It's ridiculous. I'm starting to despise the book and the people who follow it more and more. Bring a bible near me and I will gladly tear it into pieces right in front of you.

Perhaps you would rather use the Koran or go by murphy's rules? If you don't want to believe, but keep your whining proselytizing for atheism to yourself and stop being so mean.

How the founding Father's felt.

Thanks for another tidbit of propaganda! Why don't you get a powdered wig to wear around town, since you think we should be so relentless about mirroring the "founding fathers" and should never make any adjustments to fit the times.

To your other previous comment, how is discussing or comparing thoughts and opinions about a current event in the news "bullying"? It's "bullying" if everyone isn't agreeing with you? I, myself, would consider continually posting the same disruptive remarks over and over about someone's long-past indiscretions bullying! Also simply boring, immature and rude to everyone else trying to use the site! All that Bible-thumping must bring out a lot of hostility in a person! But then, I see that a lot! Not only on Topix by any means. In every day life!
