PICKAWAY DRIVER wrote:
If the speed limit through this area was enforced it might cut down on some of the accidents. The speed limit is 50, however, the average speed is at least 60. And, of course, there's also the third driver back that thinks the yellow light means hurry up because the light going to turn red when the vehicles in front of them obeys the light and prepares to stop. It's not the intersection, it's the drivers.
I agre, to many people cant wate on a red lite. lots of people speed up when
they see a lite. same way when you pull out of your driveway people speed up
to ride your boumper.

No, that would be the East side. At least the body count for today would say.

I drive this every day, if you go 50 (and exactly WHY is it 50??) you get passed by everyone..I got passed by a line of cars with a COP at the tail end yesterday. Just put up the dang flashers so motorists have a CLUE when it is going to change, the same as every other red light on 23, which apparently are not as dangerous. And NO CaptADW, the speed limit should not be reduced because I will be going the speed limit & others will still be going 60 because it is a open, flat piece of road and should never have been 50 in the first place. Further south are businesses and homes that have to pull out into 55 mph traffic and manage to do so with few problems.

It is a dangerous intersection , perhaps there should not be any way to turn off 23 to Rathmell, inconvenience but safer.

Only in America, then that would put those people at turning left at the 665 light, which is even worse. I think having sb traffic turning left onto Rathmell on a green arrow only will definitely help, but they also need to ban right turn on red for the folks coming from Rathmell. Every time we're driving nb, we get cut off by a car turning right on his red that had no business attempting it. Not to mention the drag strip after that where cars are weaving between lanes to cut over to the right at the last second for the 270 exit -- those people would never slow down for a 35mph zone (and it's 45mph in the Great Southern area, not 35 as someone had said earlier).

If you look at the angel of the crash with the little black pickup and the dump truck it is plain to see the the dump truck hit the side of the little black pick up and further more my brother did not do heroin. The intersection is dangerous and the city needs to take responsibility and do something.

They think a flashing light will help. Drive down to 762 and 23 where there is a flashing light and watch how many people still run the red light.

Lower the Speed in that immediate area to 35mph AND put up Flashing Lights far enough from the intersection warning of the Light Ahead! If the Drivers keep their heads out of their exhaust pipes and pay attention, the problem could be solved!

This intersection is doing what it was designed to do. Kill bad drivers. The intersection is doing a public good by taking out people who should not be driving. Regrettably, a few good ones are also taken out. Make note to self: If you are a good driver, avoid this intersection. If you are a bad driven, hit the gas, text and eat your Rally burger at the same time. I vote no change to the intersection.

Gosh, I take this turn on and from Rathmell everyday. Why don't I have problems? Probably bc I look both ways, I'm very cautious (the crosses made make me that way and the fact that I have a daughter)and I follow the law. Granted, I could get hit from one of the crappy drivers, but I guess that is for someone else to decide. If the city decides to put an arrow only turn than so be it. I just hope it works.

Every intersection is dangerous! Just pay attention and you will do fine! I drive through this one all the time and it is no different with the exception of all those crosses distracting drivers on the side of the road! Quit complaining and learn how to drive!
Those crosses represent a loved one lost idiot. My brothers cross happens to be there. It shouldn't be called a distraction.

Angela Hall I totally agree with you they are there to remember a loved one lost and as a reminder of how dangerous it is at the intersection but in a way it can be a distraction i dont personally drive only because i dont trust other drivers and im nervous in cars but i deal. Not disagreeing with you or anything but every time im in the car and my aunt is driving or gma or whoever i automatically get drawn to the crosses and they sadden me it sucks that all the lives were lost and i wish all the best to the familys but i do see where they can be a distraction. Not saying they should be took down just saying. And so sorry about your brother i would feel the same and best believe i would put a cross up too. Rip too all the victims of this intersection.

Why are they asking the city to help with something they can't fix? No matter what lights or speed limit you put in the area, there will always be stupid drivers. You can't fix "stupid."

One of those crosses represent one of my loved ones. They are not a distraction they are to show that they are loved and missed. If people would slow down and pay attention there wouldn't be so many crosses. And the dump truck drivers need to really pay attention. I was driving on 23 and got to that intersection and got cutoff by a dump truck.

If there were only 3 fatalities then why are there 12 crosses at this intersection? And its not all about people using their phones, how about the speedy gonzales semi truck drivers who are constantly going 70 and cutting people off in the middle of the intersection just to get on 270 or the other semi truck drivers who think the road is their bed and fall asleep behind the wheel! Why are those accidents not mentioned? You people on here who are blaming it solely on those who use the phone and drive who died, shouldn't speak ill on the dead!
