I have 10 cats and a dog. They are all spayed & neutered and all go to the vet regularly (to the jack*** that suggested otherwise). I volunteered with a rescue and adopted them. My house doesn't smell (I check with non-animal loving friends regularly just to make sure I'm not immune to anything)- I don't have any problem taking care of any of my animals. For the city to come and tell me I can't have more than 5?! Glad I'm not in Hamilton (but wish I was so I could sign the petition!)

Wow. If Hamilton even allows 5 they need to require they all have papers to prove they are all immunized.
All you people with so many pets, think what you want to think but if you have 10 indoor pets I have no doubt you live in a stinky house.
I have a dog and I love him but 5, that is just crazy.I know most people can not afford the vet bills. I thank God I do not live next door to you pet hoarders with houses that stink so bad if your window is open your neighbors can smell it. You should be ashamed for living in a nasty smelly house.
I bet you never have company or people over for dinner.
Maybe we should get a petition going to lower the number from 5 to 3.
Anyone can start a petition. Contact your council members and let them know how you feel and 5 is too many. You can email them and if it is signed it is even better than a petition.

I have 5 cats inside, and my house does not smell at all. Y ou have to maintain the litterboxes properly or things will get stinky real quick.I do agree with you however about some people that dont take care of thier pets. That smell can get pretty bad in the summer. The bottom line is,if you have multiple pets, you have to take care of them differently than if you just have 1 or 2.

DENIAL: ALL houses with an animal will smell to some degree.

Yes,but not as bad as the ones where the pets crap on the floor and the owners are too lazy to clean it up.

They should limit the amount of illegal aliens in Hamilton first. I hope the Sheriff runs for Governor.

They are a worse problem than the pets. Put a limit on how many can live in one house.

Back to the subject matter. 10 indoor pets equals one stinky house.
Even if you try to cover it up it still stinks.
That is just a fact.

I find that 8 cats is all I can handle! 9 is un unlucky number and turns out to be too much to handle. Have you ever tried to leash up and walk 9 cats???

We should be free to do as we choose with our own property as long as it is not negatively affecting others, period!

If someone has 50 (over exaggeration) pets indoors and they maintain them fantastically well with vet care, food/water and no filthy conditions, stay out of their business.

If someone has 1 animal and the animal is not cared for, housing conditions are filthy or the pet runs loose damaging other property or aggravating other people...well...that would be a problem.

See, it is not the amount of pets that is the issue.

We do not need to blame the people who are not taking care of their pets. We need to hold them alone accountable. This is not boot camp where one recruit's actions in turn holds the whole company accountable.

Government needs to stay out of it. Just because someone doesn't agree with something doesn't mean they should immediately run to 'daddy' and complain that the 'other kids' are not playing fair. Just stay out of it. Next government will be dictating how many kids a family can have. Pets are family members to many people.
Agreed!!! What's to stopping then in telling us what to wear or how long are hair should be once you start dictating how people should live(even something as small as how many pets you can own) its only a matter of time before we are marching under a dictatorship

Even 5 could be way to many - IF the owner can't handle them. We live in a well kept neighborhood with one neighbor owning 8 dogs, several cats and who knows what else is in the house. In the still of the night/or day you can hear either the dogs barking or her yelling at them using colorful language. Many times they excape the confines of the back porch only to be found in the street, where cars honk at them. We have contact the humane society even the police, but nothing happens. No open windows, enjoying the fall sounds at this house.
I agree with 5 being way too many of you can't handle it. I have 10 cats and we feed them change there litterboxes any thing that a cat needs. I think as long as you take care of the cats, you are aloud to have as many as you want:)
