WOW! 4,000 red light tickets in one month. At $75 per ticket, it won't take long for Killeen to build a new police headquarters and add more staff.

We all see where the priorities of the Killeen City Council to include law enforecement is at the present!
Oh, before I forget, that motorcycle cop on 190 great job! Although Killen is #1 in B&E's they are/should be #1 in catching speeders and those law breaking red light runners.
I loved that movie Me, Myself and Irene because it remeinds me of those motorcycle cops!:-)

Have a great day!

If I recall, Killeen itself gets about 1/3 of that $75 red light fee. The company that installed the cameras gets the rest.
Good way to make a few $M in a couple of months.

We in Cove need to get in on the action to make a few bucks. There is one light on 190 by the Cactus Motel that I observed several times where three to four vehicles would go threw after the red light had changed. Might even put up a few speed cameras. That might even catch me, but it sure would make a believer of me.

I was stopped at the light at Satn Schlueter and 190, next to National Bank and noticed that the flash went off on a car just sitting in the turning lane next to Toyota of Killeen, i dont know if the ticket was issued but I am wondering how accurate these camaras/sensors are?

Cut and paste these web sites and look at what is involved. The TXDOT owns all the red lights on 190 and 116. We can not put cameras on these lights without their permission and paying them and the state a large portion of the fine. We also have to furnish a police officer to view the daily data received to determine if there is evidence of a violation. We have and continue to look at this option but would like the State to settle in on the Law.

They take multiple pictures that tell the story.

I wish they would put those ticket cameras all over Temple not only at red lights but other secluded locations to catch speeders. I wonder what Temple PD does all day long. They sure not out on the loop enforcing traffic laws. Most drivers seem to behave themselves but then you get into a set that makes it dangerous to themselves along with everyone else around.

Amen, Bill. Its time someone stood up and made it clear that speeding is simply wrong. Its one of those deals that as long as you're lucky enough avoid an accident and kill someone its a joke and the cops are the bad guys. Those evil guys and their speed traps. We forget about the fact that no one controls thousands of pounds of steel moving at 80 as well as they control it at 65 or 70. When that lack of control kills a kid they are horrorble people but until it does their a good old boy avoiding the mean old cops. Loved your post sir and if your cops aren't enforcing the speeding laws over there in Wildcat country they should be. Tim and the boys are pretty tight on it over here. Good luck and God bless.

Rediflex is being sued for Numerous Illegal pratices.. BTW did you know a Moving Violation may ONLY be issued by a Law Enforcement Officer?

Rediflex has a Clerk in AZ who decides if you get the ticket, not a Texas Sworn LEO.

But Killeen made about $780,000 during the past nine months. That could add quite a few police officers to staff the tickets and other projects around the city.

I read this in the KDH a few weeks back and don't remember the exact amount but the $780K is close to the figure.

TXDOT owns most of the red lights in Cove. ( All but one I think) Killeen owns the red lights that they have cameras installed at.

I got a red light ticket in Houston when I logged on to see the evidence they had it on camera I really failed to come to a complete stop, it caught me dead to right and I would have argued the point if it wasnt for the camera, now I find out if I hadn't paid the ticket they couldn't have done a thing because I dont live in harris county, they could only have made me pay by refuseing to renew my auto license, but thats only in harris county .dang I wouldn't have paid if I had known that.

It's amazing how many people seem to be in favor of installing these revenue making devices, um, I mean traffic enforcement devices in Cove. Really do we want to become a video police state like the UK has become? I've seen too much in the news how the contractors and cities (Dallas) have manipulated traffic lights and video enforcement systems to produce revenue out of citizens.

Yes there are people that run red lights in Cove and it does tick me off as I do full stops for red lights and stop signs, not "California" stops. But I want a officer on the job doing enforcement not some computer system at the home office sending out bills to generate revenue.

Keep wanting automated law enforcement and the fictional future of the movie "Demolition Man" may become reality.
Your repeated violation of the Verbal Morality Statute has caused me to notify the San Angeles Police Department. Please remain where you are for your reprimand.

You got it right Wurms. In fact, even had you been a resident of Harris County, the city of Houston could not have forced you to pay the revenue demand. The reason is that even though county tax collectors MAY refuse to register a vehicle that is the object of a revenue demand, doing so looses tax revenue for the county and the city does not share its $camera revenue with the county. County tax collectors are therefor inclined to tell cities with unpaid $camera revenue demands to get bent when those cities want county tax collectors to refuse to renew registrations.

By the way, I understand that the Bell County tax collector does not refuse to renew registrations of Bell County registered vehicles based on Killeen's $camera demands and neither Bell County nor the State of Texas pay Killeen's $camera demands issued to Bell County Deputies' or DPS Troopers' official vehicles.

Just hope they don't go to a Virginia fine schedule..
A speeding ticket there can carry a fine up to $3550.00.
The locals in Texas are strictly amateurs at revenue enhance...err....quot....umm.. ...goal-setting.
