Which place are you referring to? Jenks tavern was owned by the Hess family back in the 80's and right up until they closed. It was right by Robbie's marina or Cubby's as it's otherwise known.
Does anyone remember when you could ride the back roads down at the psych center? It went into the woods and I remember it being kind of scary. My parents both worked at the psych center. Maybe only the employees knew about it IDK.
I remember, there was a small beach back there, and picnic area for the residence

The ferry came in at lighthouse point and the Fort was all railroad tracks...had a small booth there with a phone and a "bomb scare" was call to OFA from it. We had a huge number of them called one year...cops where taking kids out of class rooms for calling them ...their were even student walk out, but mainly threats to walk...Jumping off Sterlings roof swimming....swimming at the "oil docks" on the St. Law. Even had a chance to jump off a big oil ship docked there and had a European sailor give us a tour of the ship once. Fishing there for nice Northerns and Muskies....same with lighthouse point as well....Madill School was behind the Hepburn before they bought it and built the Cancer center....Main St. was main street...lol.....They plowed the snow to the bottom of the Hepburn parking lot...we would plug cars with snowballs there....and we would wait for a car at a stop sign to "hook" it and slide ...till you hit a bare spot ...lol ...I'm done....lol

The ferry, came in by where the pool is now, straight in front on the river. Where the fort is now, also had huge oil tanks.

It did come in there wayyyy back yes ....but later came in at the light house point with rail road cars..the dock burnt after getting hit with lighting, I think in the late 70s.there was a few there as well as the coal silos...but Augsbury's tanks were up farther at what we called the oil docks...where the houses are now,, past Shade Roller and Diamond but before Acco...used to see if we could walk the tracks to the beach ...Pithian beach ...if I spelled that right....now owned by United Helpers...Ogd. claimed it was cause of snakes as to why they closed the beach

You are right there were tanks up past diamond and shade, but there was also a few that were closer, it is just an empty field now, by where they are trying to build the fort. My friend lived by there, we used to go down and goof off down there. At Light house point there was a dock there, but like you said it was a RR that was there and used to dock for the ships. It did burn in the early seventies, and you can still see the the remains sticking up out of the water, from the city docks. The only car ferry docks were by the pool, by it closed, the day the bridge over the river opened, in 1958. You are right about the snakes and the walk up those tracks, damm it got hot. I used to go there all the time, and I don't remember seeing snakes, but that is the reason that was givin at the time.

Yea we used to watch the ferry come in at the lighthouse point...it was not for cars ...but brought train cars back and forth ....am I the only one that remembers that ...and yes you are right there were a few big tanks down there as well ...the tracks and what we called "The cattle barns" were still there ...maybe where the four lane coming off twin bridges is where all the tracks and the silos...there was a gas station across Main St. from the Cuttinghams home...I used to walk to Washinton school and skate at the filteration plant...now that is fenced off...they even had a shack there with a little heat and hot coco for the kids....

That you don't need to blame the Internet for the world being able to know you're a loser? Point taken.
