I'm from Ogdensburg, and I was pointed here by a friend for a good laugh. Then, I kept on reading.
Has Ogdensburg always been this stupid? Do we really only have the topics of 'who is the biggest slut' or 'How to get lucky at Kozy's ???' to talk about?
Jesus F*cking Christ this whole msg board is a blatant indictment of Ogdensburg's plummet into complete scumbaggery. I think maybe its best I leave and never come back. The stupid seems to be contagious.
I've always defended Ogdensburg in the past, or at least tried to correct the misconceptions people have about our town by people in the North Country. But from reading this...Jesus.

Wait Disgusted do not go.
Keep in mind we are all here for a laugh. Instead go out and drive around the Burg. Take an honest inventory of what you see. Drive by Kozy's, Fitzy's, Sully's, Oscar's. Open your eyes to what has been happening to OBurg.
Now for a moment try to envision what things will be like in 10 years.
As we all become connected with the internet and text messaging and instant posting of pics and clips, think about the endless possibilities of how Stupid people will get.
Then stop and think. This is happening all across the USA. Probably most of the civilized and "Uncivilized" world.
Good thing we have the river close by.

Yo Disgusted a piece of advice just in case you make the trip to Kozy's.....
"I'd hold you up to say to your mother, "this kid's gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid's gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew." And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watching you, every day was like a privilige. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you're no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that! I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life. Don't forget to visit your mother."

A Few Good Men and Women
Hang Out At Kozy's

Kozys Bartender: You want answers?

Disgusted: I think I'm entitled to them.

Kozy's Bartender: You want answers?

Disgusted: I want the truth!

Kozy's Bartender: You can't handle the truth! Disgusted, we live in a world that has bars. And those bars have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Disgusted? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for scumbags and you curse the scumbaggery. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that scumbags drinking, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that bar. You need me on that bar.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent drinking something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very intoxication I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a drink and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Disgusted: Did you order the Johnny Wlaker red?

Kozy's bartender:(quietly) I did the job you sent.

Disgusted: Did you order the Johnny Walker red?

Jessep: You're goddamn right I did!!

Ha. I don't have anything against Kozy's. It's not my favorite bar in the world or anything but there is nothing wrong with it either. I just got done reading the Carrie Todd thread and now feel a lot dumber than I did 10 minutes ago.
This place is like a car accident. You should have the decency to look away...but you don't. At least I don't.

Creed has a good song called My Own Prison.
Listen to it Disgusted.
We live in small town USA. There are drugs, drinking, and a varying level of incomes. From poverty to the Judges who sit on the benchs and a whole lot of in between. Jobs are not very plentiful and with the prospect of the prison closing, people are beginning to notice the economic impact it will have on this Small City.
Everybody has a life to live.
Like the car accident of which you speak, it is often hard not to cast some form of Judgement.
We all make choices daily. Some good. Some bad.
We all do not have the same opportunities however.
Kozy's takes alot of hits here on Topix, but they are a good bunch of people running a business. Try to think of this as Blue Collar Comedy with Larry The Oburg Guy!

"(Col. Jessup): You see Danny, I can deal with the bullets, and the bombs, and the blood. I don't want money, and I don't want medals. What I do want is for you to stand there in that faggoty white uniform and with your Harvard mouth extend me some fucking courtesy. You gotta ask me nicely."

Our subconscious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives.

If I gave you the truth, would it keep you alive?
Though I'm closer to wrong
I'm no further from right
And now I'm convinced on the inside that something's wrong with me
Convinced on the inside, you're so much more than me, yeah
No there's nothing you say that can salvage the lie
But I'm trying to keep my intentions disguised
And now I'm deprived of my conscience and something's got to give
Deprived of my conscience
This all belongs to me, yeah

I'm beaten down again, I belong to them
Beaten down again, I've failed you
I'm weaker now my friend, I belong to them
Beaten down again, I've failed you

The deception you show is your own parasite
Just a word of advice you can heed if you like
And now I'm convinced on the inside that something's wrong with me
Convincd on the inside you're so much more than me, yeah
I'm beaten down

Itís so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then donít say it.

A lot of beautiful people are stupid. Thereís a tremendous amount of idiots who look so good. Itís frightening.

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

As far as we know, our computer has never had an undetected error.

Being stupid is its own reward

Fiction writing is great, you can make up almost anything.

I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.

Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change
