So now Tim Brown is quitting. Is there something about that position that nobody wants to talk about?

I also heard Dan Bresci is one of the finalist for the position. What a mistake that would be for the Police department that would be. He spends most of his time at the Harley shop on the tax payers dime. Does this guy answer to anybody or does he do what ever he wants? You have to hire someone that the employees would respect and Dan would deserve none. He has the people skills of a turd. Hire someone from outside the department to right the ship or you may see a lot vacancies from all the good officers leaving.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought someone had gotten seriously hurt. Isn't "officer down" a kind of code for saying that a police officer has been shot, or otherwise seriously injured while on duty? If so... why choose such a sensationalist title? Why not just say, "Officer Brown Retiring in December?" Pretty poor taste, IMHO... Agnostick agnostick@excite.com

Has anyone heard the interview with Officer Brown on KJCK. Reason for retiring, and I don't blame Officer Brown one bit, is the 2011 Budget coming up and that he does not want or need the headache of working on that. As he stated it will be a great challenge with everything the city is facing. That kind of explains Rod Barnes retiring, the former Chief of Police retiring and Mr. Heldstab not wanting to be reelected. Rats deserting the sinking ship?

If Rod Barnes stays I would have stayed. Is that what he said? What kind of bull is that. Did he want to be the police chief or did he want Rod Barnes to tell him how to run the police department. Would not be surprise if city commission gave Rod Barnes a city consulting contract

After serving Junction City for over 30 years I respect Capt. Brown and honestly believe that the Police Department will have a huge void to fill. I don't know much about the Police Department but have heard nothing but good things about Capt. Brown from the Police Officers that work for him. I truly believe that Capt. Brown will be missed dearly by the Police Officers from what I have heard. People need to realize how lucky they were to have had Capt. Brown Protecting the City for more then 30 years and not try to make up crap about him because he is retiring. I cant stand the way the Citizens of this town decide to try and bring everyone down!!!

I have personally witnessed Tim Brown dirty dancing and singing Karaoke while wearing a full body cheese suit. Oh yeah, Tim is secretly a ninja and has the ability to punch a hole through time. Now DAT'S ResPecT.

Tim was a great officer, at least he was out on the streets working with his guys. Rod Barnes is a flake and all of the rest of his groopies why cant you all see that. and miss piggy she sets on her throne while she has all of the good officers leaving there jobs because of them. DOUBLE standards she can live with a city employee but dont let an officer even think of that and they are asked to leave. I hope that Scott keeps on them all as they are a bunch of loosers and have really messed up the PD really sad.

It would be very easy to prove just going to the person who wrote the check but I could care less. All I care about is that this town gets there act together and not ruin peoples lives that they do,I wouldnt want to let people know that you are from JC. It will all come out in the wash.

It would not surprise me if Mr. Rod Barnes picks a new chief with not the best experience. Mr. Rod Barnes should not make the selection. Mike Guinn should not be involved. Cpt. Tim Brown will not retire until end of Dec. The new city manager will be hired by then. Do the right thing and wait. Only reason not to wait is to let Mr. Rod Barnes choose who runs city departments in the future.
