I was just informed that 4 students were suspended for having paper folded up looking like guns in their desk. What is this world coming to. Would they have suspended them if they were folded into footballs? whats the difference? It is just paper people!! It isn't like they had them out threatening others.. Gosh!! Now these 4 students will miss 3 days of school over folded paper!!!

Yep.. It's the truth.. I know one of the parents of the boys.. she also said that non of the teachers actually saw the kids playing with the paper guns...they just found them in the boys desks...

They should be suspended and their butts beat. They know the rules and they chose to ignore them. What this world is coming to is parents think their kids are perfect and will make a big deal as if the school is at fault instead of taking responsibility for their children's lack of respect for rules.

An elementary student should NOT be suspended and have their butt beat because of PAPER guns! Damn!

AND...let me tell you more about why...
1st, it's damn paper!
2nd, it's an unfair situation, this school system.
At the high school, I know of more than once instance of drugs and/or drug-related activity and NO action was taken by administration.
At the Middle school, action is taken for some and not others. For example, a student with good grades, no former discipline record defended himself and was suspended and ISS .
Now, at the Elementary level, suspended for PAPER guns???
Some common sense needs to come into play somewhere...and surely if teenagers aren't held accountable, why do it to these younger kids so harshly?!

I agree with this statement, 150%. Put that leather belt or that paddle with the hole in the end of it in the right place and you will see discipline improve, guaranteed.

I agree that paddling as well as God should be back in schools. However, parents will then complain that their child didn't do whatever because that's what the little liars will say and then try to sue the school for paddling their child. Parents should be more involved in school and actually go to meetings instead of complaining and getting involved AFTER the fact.

Well, I know this parent and she is involved very much so with her child and school. Paddling is still in school because they were going to paddle these students plus send them home. After speaking with two of the four kids that were involved, they were just folded in the desk. They were not being played with. Even an educator at the Elementary school said this was taken to seriously and could have been handled a lot different! What is so bad now is that these boys will have a school record for being suspended over "folded paper"! I think the parents should fight this big time!! I do know one that said she is!

Parents who think their children do no wrong will not support the school paddling their babies! There is always an option for those who don't like the policies of the school..... HOME SCHOOL!

Today folded up paper guns.Tomorrow real guns. All other students should be protected. Stop it now before it gets out of hand.I as well know one of the "boys" and he by far is more then 2 hand fulls. All the parents and step parent should address this at home as well.Read the student hand book.My child would get their butts tore up.Chores everyday they couldn't go to school.Keep the child busy.I do agree that some kids get by with a lot due to parents, grades and such.It is not right.I do think all rules should be enforced the same for every child. But look it's never going to happen. I as a parent will and have fought for my child at the school. As a parent if you don't stand up for your child and fight for them no one else will. The parents have a right to try and fight this.I as a parent would have to agree with the school. Why even have the folded paper gun at school?Unless you plan on playing with it or you made it at school or plan on playing with it on the bus.All of which is not allowed.Everyone has an opinion. This is just mine.

Old School is right..if your kid is too good for a good old fashioned, raise the feet off the floor paddling, keep their spoiled butts at home. That's where they'll stay for the next 40 years or so since they have it so good with mommy.

Back when my kids were in school, at the beginning of each school year, I would send a note to school with them that gave each and every teacher that they had, 150% permission to tear those tails up if they did something wrong and made every teacher they had sign that note. You know how many times they had to discipline my kids at school? Not the first time cause they knew that if they got it at school, they were going to get when they got home and they didn't want none of that.
