Unray once rushed for well over 400 yards against an Augusta school. Theodore Wilkerson was the first of the really great running backs here. Harry skipper was the most dangerous & versatile of them all. Crazy good with punt returns, saw him return 2 for TD's in a game against Coffee county in the late seventies. He also ran a kickoff back that night for another TD. Dexter was probably the fastest of them.

I think Lanier Goethie and Seth Rogers were two of the hardest hitters I ever saw. Travis Ryals was good too.

All the above names, Byron buxton is hands down the best athlete to play in appling. Zack Griffis was very good. He was always the backbone of that those teams but seemed to get less aggressive as he got older. Freshman and soph yrs he killed people. Tucker stone was a good athlete, ken stone, Adam ghaham prolly the best kicker we had since kanovich. Lots of good players just a matter of opinion.

In the mid 70's...Sidney Wildes, Rick Tomberin, Milous Burkett, Wendell Burkett, Bobby Rowell, Willie Futch , The late Mike Courson, Ronnie Jones, Leslie Williams are some dudes I wouldn't want to tangle with.

Exactly,Those were some bad boys.I saw Bobby bench 440 lbs. back then it was a record; and may well still be.As strong as Bobby was he was gentle away from the football field.I remember each of these; and they were all really nice guys.I did not know about Mike till years later, such a tragedy, I graduated with his sister Julia.

I held it there is a better football player: Messi, Ronaldo, Franck Ribery, Van Persie, Rooney, Suarez, Ozil, Bale, Neymar. One of my favorite is still the Liverpool Suarez.http://www.footballtshi rtuk.com/Liverpool-7-SUAREZ-Ho me-Football-Shirt-20122013.htm l He left me a deep impression too much.
