I go to Dinky's as often as passable I like the chicken auction and the auctioneer speaks loud and clear. the whole family in joys his banter and jokes. The Amish are friendly and after a while You forget the deference they may dress deferent but don't we all. We have fun talking with them.If there is one place where everyone is treated equal it is at Dinky's no one thinks there better then anyone else. Were all there to have fun and we do have fun. even if You don't want to buy you ought to go at least once You don't have to buy to have a good time but they have so much I bet you wont go away empty handed and you wont break the bank if you do buy George Merkley

Every Friday night. South of Odon IN. Starts at 6 PM. It is a bit far to drive, but well worth it. They have anything. You never know what you will find. Household to Horses. There are at least 5 auctioneers going at one time. It is fun and interesting even if you don't buy anything. You never know who you will see there.

Just be careful what you buy there. If you live in the Odon and Elnora area and you have anything stolen you can just about bet you will find it at the auction.

I have to wonder how the Amish got a computer to work off of candle light and kerosene. I bet that's interesting since they dont like electrical power. I have to wonder how they found out about the internet at all. I know what the earlier post talks about having stuff stolen and then only to find it at Dinkys. Found my lawn mower and several tools that were mine there going up for bid.

Amish don't always don't have power and other items. There are some pure Amish who do things like that and then there are some who use technology.

Question to "Hmmm": How did your lawn mower and tools make their way from Tyler, TX to Loogootee, IN? I hope it was a riding mower!

The location goes by where your ISP is based out of, not your true location.

Maybe workers at his isp company took the rider up there. My isp takes 30$ a month from me.

They have cars, electricity, telephones, internet and so on. As for auctioning off stolen goods, I've seen that too. It seems like anyone with a photo I.D. can sell stuff there...not just Amish folks.

YES the AMISH do live without ele. That is what makes them different from the Mennonites. They do however like to trade on the "Amish" way of life. The way it used to be. 20-30 years ago you hardly ever saw 'amish' in Odon except to do their business and that was usually on Saturday. Now even the 'amish' come to town everyday including Sunday to go shopping. They may not own cars or trucks, due to their 'religion', but they sure dont have a problem paying someone well to take them to larger towns to 'go tradin'. The real funny part is seeing them use plastic to pay for something. The funniest thing I ever saw was a 'amish couple' in a horse and buggy riding around Odon on a Sunday afternoon with AC/DC playing louder than most of us with cars or trucks. Oh and the song playing you might ask, HELLS BELLS. Oh and I forgot to mention the Bolo with a roach clip hanging from where a rear view mirror would be in a car or truck. Most people are fooled into believing the 'amish' are honest, or at least more honest than us devil 'english'. Next time you really want to know all about the 'amish' and their ways, ask one of them about their famed 'corn row parties'.

Dinky's auctioneers have it set to sell to whom they want, not the highest bidder. They are just as crooked as the infamous auctioneer in shoals.

Oh say it aint so! You mean those wonderful, hard working, honest people have been foolin' us all this time? Dinky's is probably one of the best places around to fence stolen items. I would love to know how much stuff they have sold from there that was hotter than a firecracker. I bet a lot of people would be shocked to know the true numbers. I guess it would be a great place to launder all the meth and other drug money floating in that part of the country as well.
