Full story: TwinCities.com

An Oconto Falls teen who hung three black-faced scarecrows by their necks as a Halloween display says the mannequins aren't racist and he's not taking them down.

You know what is disturbing is that folks are focusing on this display. We are in economic crisis, have a presidential race which will change history (neither of which is a good option), and state governments who can't spend money responsibly. Regardless of the intent of the "dolls" hanging, stop giving this individual the attention he is seeking and worry about how to keep gas in your car, food on your table, and your home.

Obviously this is meant to be racist with the Confederate flag also on display but making a big deal of it is excatly what this idiot wants.

Ahh, yes, we should all be focused on one issue and pause our lives in a constant state fear. People getting raped, non-issue, murder, forget about it. We should only focus on what you deem important. Sounds like a plan.

LMFAO - If it was Barrack Obama's face on them then I would clearly say take them down - otherwise since it's just scarecrows, and crows are black themselves...let it stay!

Nobody would have cared if he had chosen a different subject to hang. I wonder the reaction if he had hung mannequins made to look like Jesus and a couple of His disciples? He could have smeared them with feces and peed on them. That would never be considered religious bigotry, it would be freedome of expression. He would be defended all the way to the Supreme Court. I bet he'd get a grant from the NEA.

Frankly, from the description in the article I believe that it probably is a racist display and ought to be removed. A confederate flag but it's not racist? That's a tough sell. I just wish that religious bigotry in art wasn't tolerated, defended, and even applauded.

Somehow I doubt the display you describe would be allowed either.

First off Bill, blacks have never run around this country looking for whites to hang, intimidate, or deny jobs, the vote, or other privileged novelties whites used to enjoy solely by themselves.

Second, you really need to read American white history because in it contains volumes of horrific torture whites did to Hispanics, Asians, Jews, and Native Americans. This stuff isn't talked about much because former white angst against Blacks was just too extensive to leave out of American History books.

Third, if you really think it is okay to depict anybody hanging from a noose, you are just as twisted as the racist people who only want to show blacks hung before a crowd. Don't think that you are somehow better than racist people simply because you believe in equal opportunity lynching.

Last, blacks were hardly hung for actual crimes. They were hung (the correct term is lynched) just because they existed. False charges were always brought upon Blacks that were lynched by white people and police departments.

And if you don't believe me, try watching the History Channel, who just showed the history of the KKK and the American Nazi Movement last night or better yet, visit African American Museums down south.

That's the problem you idiot - THAT WAS AMERICA FROM RECONSTRUCTION THROUGH THE 1980S!

You people keep forgetting that whites DID establish a national KKK and Nazi Order whose purpose WAS to annihilate Black people. Where have you guys been?

Did you honestly think all the stories of Klansmen rounding up Blacks in the South were made up?

What, did you think that maybe the KKK was all of 50 guys and that was it?

Nobody knows how many Blacks were killed by people who were so open about their Klan and Nazi membership because these whites killed just that many Blacks.

The Nazis and the KKK were not exercising their free speech either. They took over county, city, and state governments (check out the history of Indiana, Mississippi and Alabama) as well as several police departments. They imposed martial law, especially over whites (and not just white women either).

That's right, the KKK and Nazis frightened whites, especially those that were too chummy with black people, and they killed these whites when they got the chance.

The funny thing is I don't disagree with you. Nor do I feel these rednecks should have put this display up, but that's not the point here. The point is, these inbreeds have the right to do something like this, whether people like it or not because The Constitution says they can.

I do not care for flag burners, but I understand these people can do it because of the very flag they are burning...go figure.

My post was meant as sarcasm. If you read the person I responded to I was mocking his post. It's always tough for people to decipher that on a message board. I guess it's neccessary to clarify it.

Ok your what just guessing! Man your good. Should I tell my 6yr old he has to take his down because some poor jerk might be offended? And if maybe it's face wasn't so dark it would be ok. He painted it dark to try and scare kids on halloween.

They aren't black face, they are brown face (if any thing they look latino). Also their faces also look very ghoulish.
