Who will buy that empty lot? Is the city stupid or what. How many firefighters would that of hired. Think about it. All govt employees are incompetent untill proven otherwise.

Are you saying it should have been left standing and the money used to hire firefighters?

"What" is clearly a firefighter... money wisely spend to clear a public danger and will be returned many times over when the property is sold... maybe not today or this year but eventually... a city looking beyond the next election... very wise indeed.

Yes,the city doesnt own the property, they are placing a lien on the title for the vacant land and that is stealing.

It has been an eye sore for years. It needed to come down for years. The only way to fix that corner is to take it down. Great Job City of Ocoee.
Now see what you can do to the old gas station on the same corner.

"What" are you an idiot? You really would have driven by this everyday, and been fine with it? Why do I have a feeling you go home to a house on wheels and multiple cars on blocks in the front yard. All joking aside, good for Ocoee! I just wish everyone would stand up and do something in their community. Perhaps we wouldn't have a Pine Hills or Paramore.

"What" is the problem kids, stand around with your thumb up your a$$ and say/do nothing your whole life. Allow the community to fall apart. "What", if you are a fire fighter, then shame on you! I can assume the IAFF has no idea you wrote this! Keep your mindless political two cents to yourself.
Thank you Ocoee

This place is an eye sore and a breading ground for crime. If they don't tear it down they will need more police in that area to control the crime.

Thanks Ocoee for finding a way to tear this down. I worried that the legal mess was to great to do anything. We appreciate the progress.

i drive by that place every day to & from work. there is a big sign at maguire & owg about a new commercial retail development going in there on the south side of the property. i can easily see them or someone buying it to make that block really nice. that translates into jobs. they might be low-scale paying jobs, but they will be jobs!

So what happens to the owners? Don't get me wrong I do know it was an eyesore and needed to come down, but are the owners who are still paying a note on a property they have not been able to use for 10 years going to get anything from this developer? Yes, I know someone that is still paying a note on her unit from this place, my mother.

Have you ever really been to Pine Hills? Are you aware that there are million dollar homes in Pine Hills? Are you aware that at one time Pine Hills had one of the larges horse breeding farms in the South? Pine Hills has a bad name only because those with small minds have imposed the name.

being as obsessed with the place as I am, I was there to watch it be imploded yesterday. they're going to clear out all the debris, the it's going to be transformed into ''The People's Plaza'', a new strip-mall thing. resturants, shopping centers, ect... I was PISSED to see it go, because it's historic and all, but at the same time, it's about time it did. that's prime real estate and big enough to house easily 500+ more jobs.
