Full story: Orlando Sentinel

A lot went right for Orange County schools this past year -- from an A rating by the state to dramatic improvements in failing schools.

After having worked personally with Laura Keller on local school rezoning issues, I believe that she is the best qualified candidate for her constituents and Orange County families as a whole.

She is accounting savvy, an independent voice and genuinely committed to improving our school system.

It's time for District 7 to have a real leader -- one without special interest ties, and one prepared to make a real impact from day 1.

In my opinion, Laura Keller is heads and shoulders about the others vying for the position.

Professor Vicky Bell based upon what the Sentinel has written is clearly the most qualified to be elected as School Board Member. She has pointed out how the School Board often fails to follow its own rules. She has actually analyzed the budget that shows that more than a qurter of the instructional teachers are not budgeted to schools. She is smart, experienced and independant. She has refused contributions form people who do business with the School Board.

Thank You

About the budget:

The school board needs to cut the fat from the OCPS budget and put it where it is needed. Start with the school board salaries. Serving on the school board is not a full-time job and they are paid too much. Then get rid of ridiculous positions at ELC. There are many. Cut travel budgets, and put the money into salaries and student needs. What happened to the $20 plus million dollars they claim to have saved by the ridiculous start time switch? I would guess it should go to teacher salaries?
