They are all still there except for the lady who is the middle school principal and the curriculum director for the system. Each school has a curriculum director, too.

This is commenting on TRUE's statement. Why can't the kids be tested by someone like at family children services or just a psychologist rather than have one full time at the school when we probably don't need one full time?

Not sure, but I suspect having to use an outside agency wouldbe more expensive than having someone on staff do the testing. There might alsobe problems with being able together test results back quickly enough to help modify the child's course of study to best serve Histor her exceptionalities. And then there is the problem of scheduling meetings with parents, caregivers, teachers, etc. it might work, but I just don't see it.

A lot of money wasted in education. Alot of positions made but not needed. Sp Ed Director, School Counselors, Assist Principals, Supertendent,
Coaches, and Psychologist. I have taught over 25 years in the regular classroom with over 150 students a day and all levels mixed together including special education and GAA students where special ed teachers stay in a resource room and let a parapro go into the room with regular classroom teachers and help with the overload.
Yes there are much wasted taxpayer money! This situation is in all school systems across Georgia. Students are falling in the cracks and not getting the education needed so that some of these made up jobs give the who know who people jobs.

Teachers are the ones who educate the future of this country. I am glad teachers are getting paid well. It is a whole lot better than some guy getting paid millions just because he can hit a ball. I would like to thank all the teachers for what they do. More parents need to get involved with their children's learning and stop leaving it up to the teachers to do the 8 hours a day they have them.

It is so ridiculous that someone is actually blasting what the teachers that EDUCATE OUR CHILDREN are making. They educate the FUTURE of our country. This country is in piss poor shape and your worried about how much a teacher makes? I guarantee you for what they have to deal with, they don't get paid nearly enough.

I agree with you. Teachers only make what is considered good money around Ocilla/Fitzgerald because the cost of living is so low here. That same teacher's salary in another larger town is not nearly so attractive. I have friends who teach and I am amazzed at the amount of work they take home nearly every day and every weekend. Makes me appreciate my 40 hrs a week! Plus the people I work with are pleasant, their parents don't come to the office raising hell because their perfect child is getting 0s for the homework they do not turn in. Parents think their kids are rocket scientiests in spite of what the test scores and grades show. Then the parent gets mad when the teachers will not give their perfect child As and Bs when the child is making 30s and 40s in high level courses.

Oh no. Give me my 9 to 5 job any day, the pleasant working conditions, good fringes, intelligent clients and no parents.

Perhaps you would like to meet me face-to-face and call me "stupid". We can meet in Kelltown which is about half way between Moultrie and Ocilla.

I think bobby Connor needs a raise. I heard he's been having a tough time making ends meet. He holds the Irwin school system together with his professional leadership.

This is so true. Amazing how things get Doctored locally. You can get the true salaries on the Website. People need to wise up around their local systems no matter where you live.

If I was moving to Ocilla, I would wonder about school system after reading the paper and decisions of Superintendent and school board.

That is the gospel. Once again, Mr. Big Boss man should be eating leather! Instead of outside coaches, let's fix the inside I got your back, kiss butt administration starting from the top! Bring someone from way outside and pray they can see thru the BS and Ass kissing that goes on here and worry about the kids educations. Some of these kids are not going to know what to do when Daddy or Mommy can't walk the halls and tell the teachers and staff what is going to happen. The REAL World is gonna suck bad! If they can even handle leaving Ocilla! Sad
