Heather did a great job. She was the only one who sounded profession, with a lot of information on how to run the office. The other 3 were way behind her. On school board. Josh Branch doesn't know the ga or fed laws. Otherwise he would know the local board does not want furrow days. These days happen because the state does not send enough money to pay these teachers ( this money is tax money we pay the state or those of us who pay ga state taxes ). Old joe p is a joke,( this is the problem-- he's old & one of the good old boys). Sen race. Tyler Harper was the more knowledgeable one. Hatfield will play dirty at all cost. Remember the way the re- distrIcting is. Atlanta republicans wanted Hatfield gone. Just my opinion. I was there. Average turn out f, most had a relation with someone there.

The furlough days are determined by local boards of education and board employees. The state reimburses school systems for most salaries. Some positions are not needed based on the size of schools. Those salaries are not reimbursed by the state and come out of local tax money. Additional supplements paid to some, but not all, employees come out of local tax dollars. Teacher salaries are usually reimbursed in total by the state.

Wish more people had been at the debate to ask questions. Too many vote for the name of a person and not their policies and ideas.

Correction to the above -

Health insurance, retirement contributions, etc. are not reimbursed by the state. That is my understanding after a conversation with a board of education member.

Debbie you are wrong. Furlough days are set after the board receives the State money. This came from a board member. That is the reason the board never knows how many days will be furloughed. If you remember the board does not say the number of days this because the money. The board has an idea of the amount coming. Last 2 years, the amount has not been the projected amount for this county.

And nobody took the advice of the financial advisor who was paid to advise the board on ways to save money in the system.
