These big companies need to be stopped. They've put the small mom and pop stores outta business. Good Luck Oceanside. Go for it.

I feel sorry for the Harris Drive homeowners, but you will lose. Retail is king in Nassau County, no matter how many neighborhoods they kill in the process. People need to patronize all these stores less and stay out of credit card debt!

It is difficult to make a statement to Y/N the issue. I hope board of appeals of town of hempstead can look into the issue. Board of appeals of town of hempstead has a bad reputation, which is a "rubber stamp". The real party deciding the issue is the town board, because board of appeals is rubber stamp and the decision is made by town board before the hearing (no matter you believe or not). In my personal opinion, Kohl's expansion is good for the area of town of Hempstead. "Traffic" should be not an issue. If the project does not raise the issue of living quality, I hope board of appeal should consider benefit to the area of town of hempstead, not the surrending neighborhood.

To the residents on Harris Drive

Call Century21 if you think your house value will drop and sell now.

instead of worrying about "more traffic" in oceanside, i'd be alittle more concerned about the teens beating up people at mcdonalds,
deal with your "gang" problems first, then worry about a store who will only help your community by lowering taxes and supplying jobs.

Hey residents of Harris Drive...if you don't like it, move! The shopping center has been there for years. Now you're going to complain if it gets a little bit bigger? Maybe you morons shouldn't have bought houses behind a Kohls in the first place.

Who the F does Oceanside think they are! The citizens of Oceanside have been pushed around enough...how about most of Nasssau County has been pushed around with useless urban sprawl....drive down Corporate Drive in Westbury/Garden City and you will see what Nassau is going to be....just more apartment buildings and useless stores to add to our already populated status. Face it folks this is what its going to look like in years to come ....best of luck to all that stay!

Lets stop the raping of our neighborhoods by developers and real estate brokers!! Boycott all Kohls stores till they go under!!! For the friggin taxes we pay to live on this floating landfill they created, we deserve the right to say NO MORE!!!
If a variance is granted, it only proves everything is for sale if you have enough $$$$$

As an Oceanside resident and a student at Oceanside High School, I can safely say that we have pretty much no gang problems with the high schoolers here. I haven't even heard of a gang here. Also, I believe there were only two Oceanside teenagers in the brawl, and they are the only ones from here who have done anything along those lines. It's not reliable to make generalizations of an entire area based on what a couple of people have done.

Oh when, oh when will the new giant organic supermarket be constructed and open on the long beach road?

So many residents are waiting for that to open! What a success it will be!

NOT

No different than the vacant supermarket that was there before.

I may go look at lovingcharlotte.com now myself!

All Oceanside has going for it is shopping. LB Road is run down and shabby looking and the shopping centers are what draw people into the town. The residents of Oceanside should be grateful to have additional retail draw in an otherwise uninhabitable area that is surrounded by a dump, LIPA and Oil City. Otherwise nobody would go to Oceanside.

All the crybabies who moved into the Cove and other areas LONG after the shopping centers were already there should have had a little foresight.

And Toback is a the same patronizing jerk that he was in Oceanside HS, class of 1977.

Korvettes, and numerous others in my lifetime,
it's dog eat dog on LI, when LIers get old & stupid, they move to Orlando, hey wait are you one of them? You under-estimate the power of a good boycott.
it just proves what an idiot you are.
don't you know anything about ISP addresses? i guess not.
i live here on LI even thou my ISP address is elsewhere, and with your attitude, kohl's will be around longer than you.

I think the people of Oceanside are missing the boat on this miniscule 10% expansion. I am sure they are not complaining about how much property taxes they are saving as a result of companies like Serota and Sons all around the County's and beyond. God bless the Developers.
