Nassau County courts stink - plain and simple. I have not dealt with divorce court but family court is a joke. You are definitely forced to hire an attorney and half the time the judge doesn't know the true facts of the case. The law guardians are a waste and the time spent waiting and waiting to be heard is ridiculous.
Like Nassau's schools, the court system needs a serious overhaul. And like Nassau's schools, the court system sadly doesn't recognize the best needs of the child.
And just so no one thinks I'm a disgruntled ex-wife, I'm actually a second wife, stepmother and my husband went through the ringer in NC family court. His "crime"? Wanting to see his son at his court-ordered visitation which his ex was preventing. Thank god Judge Lawrence did not get voted back in!

Shame on both parents for dragging their kids thru this whole thing. The father should never be discussing the divorce with the children and using them as pawns against the mother. One of them should have moved out, period. A couple of selfish idiots.

IMHO, this story does not reveal flaws in NYS divorce laws, but character flaws in these two individuals.

If they were willing to be reasonable with each other from the beginning they could have saved years and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, and ended up with about the same deal.

I've never been divorced, but let's be honest here, second wives do not always have the children's best interest at heart. Often they can be disgruntled themselves over having to pay child support and deal with the FIRST wife.

So, in your case, I'd really like to hear from the first wife. I'm sure there's more to the story.

are you a stepmom? because i am and know exactly what this woman is talking about. my husband has spent close to a $100k just to have a relationship with his child. the last $30k was due to an order of protection his exgirlfriend filed against us that dragged on for 2.5 years because of the case being continued every few months yet CPS and 3 forensic psychologists all finding it to be bs. Are you aware that statistics show 85% of these orders of protections filed in family court are false? How's that for spending your tax dollars?

And no, as a child of divorce raised by a single mother child support is something neither my husband nor I have ever complained of.

Do i understand this correct? The mother was the bread winner. She wanted the divorce. The father raised the kids and tried to work it out. The mother got custody and child support?

hey confused, did you miss the part where daddy dearest was screwing with his children's heads?
It clearly wasn't working out between the two of them, and he can't be adult but has to go to the kids saying mommy wants this, mommy is breaking everyone's hearts.
He should be ashamed of himself.
He's a rotten father for doing that.

agreed.
But I knew how the story was going to end before I finished reading it. It's the same outcome, the father gets every other weekend and Wed. nights., and pays support.

Why all the court time, billable hours, and trauma to the kids?

Nassau Family courts give an oerder of protection to women like free Beers to an ALcoholic.

Anyone with experience with Judge Julienne Eiseman at Nassau Family court, Westbury??

I know women who read this, will say what a fool writing a comment ! I have a mother, sisters too, and in no way against women. But, the fact that Judges just want to play safe, rather than try to get to the bottom of the issue/s, is a sheer Mockery of the Family Courts in Nassau County.

That's how they make money for the county and justify their jobs. They keep you comming back and make more money. They are all in onit. Judges, lawyers. if they are very busy they need more help. thats how politics works. Kinda like unions.
who pays all of us not just the people getting a divorce. Some of them A**holes cant even make a ruling with out consulting someone else.

they are both good people, and they both love their children very much,i myself have been through a divorce, fortunately for me ,my children were older and there was no need for custody hearings, i beleive that the system does favor the mothers though, and whether that is right or wrong, i will say this, mothers pretty much do all the work.... i mean we go to work and cut the grass and worry about them, but moms take care of the important stuff that dads are oblivious to. if i had gone into custody battle i dont think i could have done as good a job as she has.the point is that in this case, dad couldnt get a grasp on that and though he could do both.

Who ever said ^ that...
Those are my parents you're talking about.
Shut your mouth. You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how any of this happened.
