I need help. My kid was sent to juvi for not going to school. The judge fined me $500 and took my son from me. When did this start... I think I am a victum here. First the school reported me to welfare office, then they took me to court. NOW my son is gone ....I need help.

You should have sent your son to school! You get multiple warnings which you must have ignored. There is no reason at all for why your son missed enough school to take him from you. Shame!

They can not take your kids without cause . Especially here in Wyoming county , they actually give too many chances before they remove children. So , if you really want them back. , I would try and work with CPS and do what is in your care plan . Correct the issues and I'm sure they would be more than happy to return your children

You say "I need help." Seriously, why weren't you asking for help when your son WAS NOT ATTENDING SCHOOL??? There are enough uneducated, check drawing pill head people around here now!!! You should have gotten your behind out of bed and sent your son to school!!! I do not have sympathy for you at all. I do however, feel very sorry for your son because you didn't care enough to send him to school!!! Please!!!!!

You are allowed 5 excused days not to exceed 10 days per semester or 20 days within a year. Once you hit 5 UNexcused days you will get a letter from your school stating that you will need to appear before the administrator to give the reason(s) for the absences and also to bring proof for the absences. In this meeting they will discuss ways to prevent further absences. These letters they send out are certified so they require your signature. Once you receive the letter you have 10 days to respond to it! They are taking the abences very seriously and it is always referred to DHHR/CPS if the situation is not dealt with within the time frame given. The state considers it educational neglect. It is easily taken care of if the letter is given a response to the school. The board in Pineville should have pamphlets that talks about all this. To sum it up, they ain't playin! Sorry about them taking your child but if you follow up with the county and play by their rule I am sure you will get your child back...good luck!!!

They started this several years ago. No you
are not a victim and not alone in this . This has happened to others. Should have been making sure your child went to school. Check with cps and the courts to find out what you need to do to get your child back. Then do what they tell you to do.

McDowell County School Superintendent Nelson Spencer said there is a certified prevention resource officer and active-duty parole officers stationed at the River View High School and the Mount View school complex, but not at any other of the eight county schools."
http://bdtonline.com/local/x964902140/Resourc ...

What are the attendance policies for McDowell County for the school years of 2012-13? What type of collaboration does the county have working with law enforcement? Which judge will be working with the school board and the parents and children that failed to follow the McDowell County's Attendance Policy? I'd also research the other outcomes when a student had failed to comply with the attendance policy. Also, in other counties parents that are in a divorce situation and the child or children and have one primary care giver with the other parent still receiving visitation plus included in the parenting plan to participate in making educational decisions for a child/children can be held accountable for their child or children not attending school. This happens because both parents have the right to participate in deciding the child's education in joint parenting plans. This would be another point of interest is if a child has a documented reason from a doctor for non-attendance what repercussion can the court or county institute to the parents? This may be found in the attendance policy or addressed in writing by a parole officer. If this should happen to anyone and they find themselves in court, please get a copy of the CD of the court case. There will be a fee for a copy, but it might be needed for future references.

Where the hell did you see anything about a check being taken??? The woman stated that the school reported her to DHHR ONLY, nothing was even said about a check you damn nut!! You don't even know that person's life or what may be going on, but yet you hide behind your computer to throw insults at her??? As the other poster commented, you DO NOT have to be on welfare for the BOE to fine you for your child not attending school.***Shaking Head At YOUR Ignorance***

The BOE only reports the absence totals. The magistrate is the one that can fine you. That is why the board sends out the absences letters - to warn the parents. Parent notes usually can take care of the problem.
