So sorry for the loss

I really hate to hear this for his family. I heard that he also had a sister that was murdered a few years ago. This family has been through enough and pray they find the person responsible for doing it. To first responder, if the rangers or bystanders as you say saw that someone was going to throw this man into the river, why didn't they attempt to catch the person or at least get an automobile description. I do not believe that you are a first responder, and if you are, are you familiar with the Hippa law.

I'm pretty sure that you aren't suppose to disclose information like that...and if you discuss information about crime scenes or accident scenes...then you are very unprofessional and youo should find a different job.

Not that it is against any law...or that you can be found liable for your disclosure...it is just very unprofessional and very unethical...

this is sad, what happened to him is something I would never wish on anyone. but how can someone be a good person if they are the ones who are supplying drugs to people. wouldn't that make them a murderer also?just imagine how many people have bought drugs from him or drug dealer and they overdosed and died. in my eyes a drug dealer is not a good person, it makes them no different than a person who would stoop so low as to murder someone.

Don't care either way, but this is a HIPAA violation and they can track you. Be careful!

Read what you quoted. HIPAA pertains to health issues (such as your diagnosed illness). It does not cover crime scene information or who is involved in a crime.

Its pretty simple - if the entity you work for (ambulance, fire dept, etc) charges for transportation, responding, etc AND they charge electronically - you are bound by HIPAA. If they do not charge then HIPAA does not apply. HIPAA is all about the second letter I - Insurance.

I know exactly what I said, it was not a quote. I stand by my statement. I was not referring to a crime scene and made no mention of such. I was posting a link for others so they could read it for themselves since there were a few in disagreement as to who mas mandated by HIPAA. Personally, I think it is the duty of law enforcement to release crime scene information, in an official capacity, to the public when they feel it is necessary. If this man was one of my family members, I would be very upset that the first responder was on a gossip site discussing the murder of my loved one! This person's statements would be more of an ethical issue in my personal opinion. It's not only extremely unprofessional, but it is also completely disrespectful.
