I hear Jancare has this new rule for their drivers that they cannot drive over the speed limit. Even on a 911. WTF? Shouldn't they just change the name to Jancab? Does anyone know if this is true? Upper Laurel looks like any of the vans could break down any minute. Stat is looking good. Do we have any other ambulances around?

No thats not true... If they r not on an emergency call they have to do speed limit.. I have seen jan care fly past me with lights and sirens an pull into mcdonalds drive thru.. They know better.. But anyways thats what they are referring to.. When they do stupid crap like that...

It is true, JanCare has a new policy that we cannot speed, regardless of the call. No matter what it is. We are all pissed off about it but there is nothing we can do. The public needs to complain. Crews are being written up for it. Nobody has lost a job over it yet, but it's only been in effect for a week or two. I'm sure it won't last long, once one of the bosses have a family member get sick and the crew drives the speed limit it will go away.

The law if I remember correctly is that an emergency vehicle responding to a call can exceed the speed limit by 5 mph

The law is "due regard" When operating at our normal, everyday calls we have to follow the speed limit like everyone else. When we have a 911 we fall under the same as Fire Department and Police. We can drive whatever speed we feel is safe for our training, vehicle, plus conditions. If we mess up and someone gets hurt it always falls back on us. We understand this but if it was your daughter laying on the ground do you want then to take time getting there or hurry the F up?

IDK what part of Raleigh county you work from, that's where I work and I know this. They just suspended a driver down in Wyoming Co. for 14 days that was on a call. He's been driving Firetrucks and Ambulances for over 30 years.

this is very true a friend of mine was just written up and suspended from driving. it is a shame the way jancab looks ay wyoming county. if they dont have anything else to do they let them run 911 calls for the residents, they already shut the oceanea station down on sundays, i guess they just dont care.

That can't be all you guys get paid. You run lots more paying totes than we do. That would just be crazy. You all should check with other EMS in the area.

I dont work for JC.. I work at barh ER.. An i have asked several ppl who come to drop people off.. Evidently all of u all are not on the same page.. Cuz sum of them say they can do whatever speed limit they like.. Others said they never do the speed limit anytime they are on duty.. And drive at excessive speed to get whereever they are going.. I even had one to say he puts his siren an lites on to get back to the station to goto sleep.. LoL

I can tell you that is a lie they all have gps and speed sensors the person written up and had driving privileges suspended for 2 weeks and had to go back to driving class and was not paid. If you doubt it his just ask any crew member in Oceana and they might just show you the proof

I don't care what company you work for. If you run your lights and siren without heading to an emergency or running a critical patient to the ER your gonna get fired. If you ever see us just turn them off and do something else then we were canceled. Like if a closer truck becomes available or they decide to drive their self to the hospital.
