Then they should have not picked them at ALL! If one is going to be a hard a** then be one! From the beginning...

I just had a kid quit because of this kind of ignorant thinking. The kid didn't even want to quit. This makes me so sick. I loved the kid to death and I know that they loved basketball. The kids on the bench is just as important as the ones on the floor. Saying that they should not have picked them at all is like saying to not give your child a chance. Not picking them because of you're reasoning is just flat out pathetic!

I did agree with u, and YOU'RE Pathetic! Why? because ... Anyway u will see one day. And that child should have told u that, because that is his feelings. That's the problem today... People as grown ups and even other children could care about anything but their appearance. Have a nice day. I'll pray for you.

I agree if you arent going to play the boy or girl why pick them and to say that he or she is as important as the ones on the floor. BULL!! I dont care what you get picked for football or basket ball and dont get to show your stuff good or bad you make tht child feel belittled! If you dont give them a chance then you are a henderence to that person and holding them back. Preacher you should be ashamed of yourself. I havent been to a game yet but am going to because I see you in church all the time. I am hearing more on topix than I really wanted to hear, Yeah I know these are 7-8 graders but boys or girls have feelings at this age also. Oh by the way I will see you play fo sure at road branch.. Show your stuff coach!!!!

I think all kids should be allowed to play, how are they supposed to improve if they aren't given floor time. Whether the team is winning or loosing, give some of the ones playing and give the second string a chance. After all they were picked too so they must be able to play some. I hate driving my son to game after game and him get dressed to sit on the bench when he plays his heart out in practice. It seems like the coach wants a lot on the team for the best players to have others to play against in practice. My son is better than that, he has played in the past and scored several points, so why not now, all we are told is everyone gets a chance in it is time, well in 3 games he hasn't had a chance, and I would like for him to have the opportunity whether he scored or not, he may still be an asset to the team. What is Oceana Coaches coming to anyway, all players should be treated equal on the boys or girls team, and I have heard the girls coach is doing the same stuff. These are kids and they need to learn the rules of life, but their feelings should be stepped on while they are learning. I say let them all play at somepoint in the game to give them experience they will need in highschool.

seriously said that he thought that the kids on the bench was just as important What in GODs naame for to make it look good on the coach that , that many players wanted to try out for HIS TEAM? I have friends tht have children that do play. I sure am glad I dont have children in school any more. But I do have a granddaughter and grand son in Berlin McKinney. I sure will tell my son to nnot let them go out for sports, It not only in OMS it is at WSH also.

A coach can really give Jr high children a ral complex if they are screamed at and yelled at. I know my son didnt even want to go out for the same reason that you people have been discussing. This is a shame. Some one needs to go to Perry Cook and see if something can be done or go to Wv Board of ed. altheltics Dept. This is so unfair. Yes I know they are young boys and girls and some are teenagers. I also know I am in my early 4o's and things still hurt my feelings. What about you COACH'S. Your time will hit one of these years. You will remember how you done certain children. Also parents fo to extreme patience and money to have their children play. do you think of the parents? How do you think it makes some parents that bring the grandparents and the grand children dont even get to hardly bounce a ball?? HUH? Shape UP coaches if you dont want to give them a fair chanc then at least remember they will be entering high school and maybe a coach there would love to have tht child. But your actions will ruin the thoughts for tht child! ENUFF said!!!!!!!!!! I am going to come and watch. Dont think I wont talk to Perry Cook he and I work fairly close.

I have heard the same stuff for 60 yrs. If you were hung with a new rope you would still complain. Some things just never change. The kids are ok with how things go but the parents always stick their noses where they don't belong. Leave the kids and coaches alone and everything will be hunky dorey.

Look I would love to see every child play as well BUt, and this is a big but, the coach has a obligation to put his or her best team on the floor. I do believe that you EARN your time on the court and you do that by busting your butt during practice. I know because i did it as a youngster. I was a "bench warmer" in high school until my senior year and finally got my chance and made the all-star team. Everyone can't be a star and everyone doesn't get to play. The first 8 or 9 players on the team get the majority of the playing time and the rest get to play when you are 30 up or 30 down. I did that to. Kids that quit, in my hunmble opinion, believe they are better than they really are and their parents probably do to. Just my opinion.

If you don't like the system here "MOVE". Everyone can't be in charge. Just like Church "everyone doesn't like the sermon". Either live with the system or move on. Comments like on this thread just creates discention and doesn't get anything done. Go somewhere and have a couple stiff drinks and move along.

You talk of the rules of life...what part of life hands you something for free! This attitude of I don't want my childs feelings hurt & everyone should get a fair chance isn't preparing them for real life...this is why most children now are lazy & expect everything handed to them!
