How To Ignore People

I have enjoyed reading many posts on Topix, however, I can't help but notice that people keep chiming in with irrelavent, rude comments. I tried some good natured insult tossing for a short time, but it became tiresome quickly. I've seen others become enraged about them but it's like watching a child having his lunch money taken, the bully keeps laughing and the victim can't do anything about it. It leads people to be frustrated with this entire site - internet bullies are persistant pests.

See, bullies want to have more friends, but they lack good social skills, so they act sort of like a girl who pinches a boy because she has a crush on him. Saying outlandish things is one way to get people to pay attention to you, so a cyber bully really only wants some sort of response to his comments. Any response will do. And the bully just becomes more motivated when he realizes that SOMEBODY gave a crap about what he said. It's a sad, lonely life when a person looks forward to staring at a screen to make any random person angry.

The best advice, however, for handling bullies is the same advice mothers give their 3 yr olds - just ignore them. If you are reading a post and see that someone posted just to harrass another person - skip right over it - say to yourself: "idiot!" and move on to the next post. Don't make another post telling the person that they are stupid (they already know) or defending yourself against some retarded claim he made about you. When you do, you are taking the bait, falling for the trick, being led to the slaughter, playing right into his hand. Don't fall for it. Bullies starve if they don't get enough attention.

I expect now our friends will begin slandering my post with their best material (they spend extra time thinking of all this junk)- continue this conversation without paying any notice of pathetic little cyber bullies.

You can do it!
