Betty Thornton Gift Shop

New York, NY

#1 Jun 16, 2010
If anyone remembers the Betty Thornton Gift Shop that was located at Copalis Beach during the 1940's -1950's, please contact me at [email protected] I'm in the process of writing a book about Betty Thornton's family; Betty's sister was Gypsy Rose Lee's mother. Betty's actual first name was Belle.

In the summer of 1957, I was 12 years old and my mother and I went to visit Aunt Betty Thornton at Copalis Beach. We stayed a week and had a wonderful time. I had a friend with me, Tommy Sheridan. She not only had a gift shop but several small cabins for guests. That's where we stayed but we spent most of our time in Aunt Betty's home which was attached to the gift shop as I remember. We took the Greyhound bus from Seattle which dropped us off in Copalis near the gift shop and cabins. I remember the photos of Gypsy Rose Lee and the stories. I have more to tell but I'm not sure if anyone is going to even see this reply. Email back if interested. I live in Scappoose, Oregon, near Portland. Pete [email protected]
