Too bad the beach itself at OC is no good anymore. When I was a kid it was a great beach to swim, now with the dredging they have done it is treachorous. OC is no longer an ideal place to bring a family if they want to swim.

Hi OC residents and tourists.....I've been visiting your wonderful beach and town for 45 years. I've been reading many negative posts concerning the safety of the boardwalk and how the family atmosphere is gone. Tattoo and piercing parlors don't attract many families out for a stroll. Please share your honest opinions since I'm about to book 7-10 days. I really don't want to go to the Carolinas, but will if things are going south, so to speak. Thank you in advance.

Same thing happening out here. It's inevitable.
My advice is if you find a really nice place, don't tell anybody about it.

Last weekend 230,000 showed up for Crusier Weekend.Up 15% from last year.
Guess they didn't get the word on how bad Ocean City has become.

I hope you didn't read into my post as wanting OC to go down hill. Just the opposite is true. I want the 3rd generation of my family to love the place as much as I did as a kid. I'm of the generation who remembers The Sandpiper Restaurant and The Ship's Cafe. The Safari Shop on the Boardwalk (huge gorilla). We stayed at The Stardust Hotel where The Hilton now sits. I was merely asking if the info was hype or fact. Thanks

Ocean City is a great place to visit. I vacationed yearly as a child and teen, and now I am fortunate enough to own a vacation home in West Ocean City.
Yes, Ocean City, like all towns has its "issues" and
yes, many things have changed over the years; some good, some bad, but all in all, Ocean City is still a wonderful place to create many memories with your family and friends.

I remember when I was a kid (68 now) I saw Ernest Hemingway eating a lobster at the Ships Cafe.( Ocean City at that time was a big international fishing stop )
Just one of those things you never can forget.

My grandparents owned the Ships Cafe and I loved spending time there! It seemed that OC ended at 14th Street!
