My family and I were in OC in august of 2010. While strolling on the boards I have noticed it is going downhill. I am talking about some of the shops and people. Seems like alot of scum and trouble makers migrate there from the nearby cities. I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but some people just don't look like they can be staying in OC. Especially some of the scruffy looking one just sitting on the seawall cat calling at girls, asking for money, probably shoplifting and pickpocketing too. I am sorry but you CAN tell the difference between vacationers ( whether it be families with teens, or college kids) and people who come for the day to hang out and cause trouble. I was once a kid on vacation in OC, but never acted like some people do there.
Another piont is the noise pollution that some shops call music pouring out onto the boardwalk. Noise ordinance???
I don't think I will go near the boards on the weekend, that is when it seems scummy. Let's do something to clean it up!!!

Pa trash??? I guess pa trash has anywhere from 3 to 4 grand to spend in OC for a week. Let's see, plus a good car and gas to get there, and a good job to afford it all and have the time off to do it. I don't know what else to say to you Mr. Or Mrs. Boardwalker than that you have nothing else to than insult people. Get a life. All I was doing was making a statement. You must be part of the weekend crowd that only comes into town for the night. I actually vacation there. The out of town scum cannot afford to do it. Sorry if you are jealous of my generous pay and vacation time, oh yeah and jealous of me being concerned about keeping OC a family town other than what happens during senior week or bike week. And by the way, where are you from? let me guess, you are a local, right?

I'm from PA and I'm not trash nor is my family. We rent a site at a seasonal campground in Delaware. We don't care much for the boardwalk anymore. We do like to stand at the inlet and watch the boats and rough waves or walk along the beach. Rehoboth and Bethany are nice. I was disappointed last Summer when we went to Rehoboth. There were cigarette butts lying in the sand and not just in one spot. When we did find a nice spot, 2 guys soon sat near to us, puffing away on their cigs. The fumes were blowing down on us so we had to move to another spot. As we were preparing to gather up our things, one of the guys tossed his cigarette butt in the sand. Nice.

OfHey Lol, I knew you would say you are a local. I am not going to ask you to prove it cause I can make something up too. Did I mention I live in Hollywood? Hahahaha. Without us so called "Pa trash" coming to ocean city to spend OUR hard earned money ( not a welfare check like your favorite visitors to oc have) OC would have nothing. I have seen your other posts on here, and have dertermined you have nothing good to say at all. Just one line dumbass comments. Nothing legitimate or any sense.
I am not going to waste my time debating with people talking nonsense, like you.
And is boardwalker a local too? OC resident, not from the surrounding scum towns like Baltimore.
To For one and all and Just plain Paul,
Thank you for your support in this debate. Usually it is the day visitors who litter and cause trouble. I experienced the same on OC beaches. A family parked by the hotel we stay at. Of course there was maryland plates on the car. They left soda cans and other garbage on the beach. They don't care. Enough said.

next time you are in OC, look into the back seats of the cars the parasites from baltimore drive, they are loaded with McDonalds and taco bell wrappers.

I know what you mean. My hub used to like Seaport, NJ, but that place went downhill too. What a shame. There was a little beach shop in Dewey that sold all kinds of bric a brack at great prices. I remember the lady that owned it and the last time I spoke to her, she seemed very disgruntled about the area changing. She seemed very dismayed that the area was becoming more crowded, including land being confiscated and used for more building. Sadly, that little shop was sold and a mid eastern family bought it. The prices increased dramatically and the merchandise changed too. That store has since closed. I like SEACRETS in OC. I heard rumors a few years back that they were going to sell it, but I found out it wasn't true. I hope that place stays. I love the atmosphere there. My hub and I loved the Bay Cafe, but unfortunately, that closed and pricey condos took its place. In fact, due to the economy, they haven't finished building. So sad about the Bay Cafe. It was one of our favorite places. Whiskey Joe's was upstairs. Love HARPOON HANNA'S too! Another place that has decent food at reasonable prices is WELSH'S in Fenwick Island.

here is a little something that happens in history. all places that become successful fail eventually unless they change with the times. as far as those who prejudge others on looks or what you think you see, or what you think is or is not? well that is a problem that only you can deal with. OC MD is no different then any other destination place in this country or world. if people like it, they tell others. what direction it takes after more and more people get to the destination, is up to the people that have made the place in the first place. once you get to your destination no matter where it is, it becomes what you make it and not what you think it is made of. you make it work, it does not have to make it work for you. shoebop shoebop, schwa schwa schwa.....

The condos at the old Bay Cafe cannot be finished because the ground there is soft.(swamp)
The buildings which were finished are plagued with huge cracks in the drywall and are only 40% occupied.
Also,Whiskey Joe's was downstairs.tities

P.S.
I am a local and my take on the boardwalk is this.
Ocean City is becoming 2 seperate towns. Inlet to about 40th St is basically a tourist town where it seems almost anything goes and 40th to the Delaware is more residential. Most folks up here in North OC stay away from "downtown" from May to October.

Thanks for the info. Last Summer when we drove by those condos, my husband commented that there would most likely be some problems with them. He's a construction worker so he takes notice to things like that. He said that since the condos are built so close to water, he was wondering whether the builders took consideration for footers and the foundation. Yes, I now remember Whiskey Joe's being downstairs. We loved sitting out at the cafe and looking out onto the bay and watching the boats dock. We miss the casual and laid back atmosphere and there was always plenty of parking. I don't blame the residents for staying away from the OC area. I'm not very fond of crowds either, although I probably would still venture there to see the inlet and of course, SEACRETS. I wouldn't be out and about in OC late at night. A few years ago, we were at OC and it was around 11:30 pm. We were heading back to our car and noticed 3 young guys who were walking behind us. At first, we didn't think much about it, but then we noticed they were acting a bit strange and trying to catch up to us as we tried to walk faster. Fortunately a police car was parked nearby and an officer was standing nearby. The guys made a sudden turn in the opposite direction. I'm almost certain we would have been mugged if that officer hadn't been there that night.

Bay cafe condo's, not due to economy. The builder skipped town still owing 10's of 1000's of $. also seems like where ever you vacation, it goes down hill, perhaps you should stay home in our cave.

If it were not for the people from PA, OC would fold, go under and be broke.
We spend our money that YOU need. We create most of your low paying jobs! The people that actually live in OC are lazy and you have to import foreigners to work in all the over priced shops and eateries. You don't have enough residents to support yourself.

Don't think you are correct on this one. Don't need your $'s in OC. Stay home go to Atlantic city anyplace but OC. OC is a resort town, not a metropolotian city. Of course everyone is laid back, isn't that why people visit this resort town, to be laid back. Only reason OC imports foreigners (your words) is because the teen/adults in this country are spoiled by the parents who GIVE everything to them. Why should they work? Why should they have any respect for anyone or anything? Another reason for the trashy issues. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

You definitely need our money! Remove our money from the coffers, there will not be a business in town that could survive. Because of us, you people make enough money to shut down 6 months a year. Our stores/shops are open year round in PA. Our local kids work in our stores year round. We create jobs for you, I can't believe you don't see that. There is a difference between laid back and lazy. The few thousand people that actually live in OC cannot support themselves without us.
