The food was good but the service was very poor. They only got 1 out of 7 orders correct. They claimed they had no mustard, but one our partys' entree came with it and the other orders were messed up with the server just continually blaming the kitchen. Never again.

Arrived and seated right away. Service very poor. Appetizer slow to arrive. Two couples arrived behind us and served dinners before us. Table behind my wife had two out of four entrees wrong, sent back. Couple near us (whom arrive twenty minutes after us) was served our orders - wife realized this as food going back to kitchen. The food sat on their table for 5-10 minutes before it went back to kitchen. We got our food finally, 50 minutes after being seated. We checked the food and it was cold along with my wife's order was wrong. Waitress came back five minutes later and we told her that we were leaving and wanted the check, she asked if we wanted to see the manager, we said yes. Four mintes later the waitress came back and took our food. She said the manager would be here in a few minutes. Seven minutes later the manager came over and walked past us to the table where the couple was that originally received our food. My wife could overhear the conversation and not one mention of whom she was and to correct poor service. We laughed because she cleared their silverware and napkins completely as though they were leaving. It was at this point we decided to just walk out. No dinner tonight as we had a play to go to. Thinking one and one-half hours is enough time for dinner here, better plan longer. Also the couple directly beside us sat for over fifteen minutes, and still waiting when we left, just to have their credit card run. NEVER AGAIN.

Good to see someone in Ocala being honest about this place. Awful, will never return. Did one fella actually tell you he was the head waiter? Funny. He is a server, looking very disheveled and needs a shower. The cook stood over us in dismay when we sent back there specialty chicken a second time like he was surprised and it never happened before?? There is no sense of urgency, the servers wander around and the place is poorly decorated and needs cleaning. They do not attempt to make anything right and never adjust a bill.

Isnt this an offshoot of the place in Dunellon that always gets rave reviews?

Went yesterday with my class for our monthly luncheon. They put us all down in the basement with another party, noise level and air level was horrible. We were first to order almost last to get served. I had heard so much about the Ivy house I was really excited to be going there, what a let down, was not impressed with it at all.

We went here with a group of 5 ladies for lunch. It was the first and last time any of us will go to the Ivy House. Our waiter was downright rude. His hair was greasy and he looked unkempt. We asked for lemons with our tea/water/fish and were told that "We only have limes today." We watched glasses with lemons being served to other diners. We had to beg for refills. Our food was not hot. This place was very pricey, which would be fine if the service and food waranted the high price.

Sorry to say I was disappointed. I went with my family to try this restaurant out that I heard so much about. The first thing a floor register blew cold air up under us. So they moved us a table then it was blowing on my daughters back. We were staying at this table when out waiter knocked over my granddaughters drink which ended in my lap. So we were moved to another table. It was an accident but sitting with wet clothes was not comfortable and all I got was "sorry" the food was good but I will not go back. The staff was ok with all this and we paid our full bill and left.

Have been to Williston location twice. First time - great. Hot food and large portions. 2nd time, huge crowd and almost everything disappointing. 1/6/13, Ocala location. Got seated in a little main floor "cubbyhole" - surrounded by walls. Kind of like a mini cave. Ordered appetizer - fried green tomatoes, which were nicely hot, but limp and un-crisp. When you fry something, it should have a crispy outter crust. Orders came out a little slow, but ok. Wife had huge Chicken salad, Mom, 1/2 doz. fried shrimp/baked potato/salad, and I had panko Tilapia/mashed potatoes & salad. Shrimp were tasty but not crisp enough.(see fried green tomatoes above) Kind of moist and soft. My Tilapia was 60% the size of the portion size I had at Williston location, but was plenty. Mashed potatoes, baked potato and Tilapia were all just slightly warm. All should have come out HOT. This is absolutely unexceptable. Mashed potatoes were bland & needed more REAL butter. One thing was curious. There was both cornbread and a "crescent" roll on each plate. Why do we need 2 "breads"? I think the waiters should ask customers which they prefer. We all 3 left the Crescent rolls untouched. 100% waste. Although my wife ate a large amount of her chicken salad, she still had a huge pile of lettuce left over. More needless waste. Also, consider this. We had breading on the fried green tomatoes, Tilapia, and shrimp, plus cornbread. How many "breads" do we really need in a meal?
Now, our biggest complaint - by far, was the dark and dreary decor. Almost everything inside the building is a shade of dark brown or black. Is this really the way people decorated their homes inside - 80 to 100 yrs. ago? I think the only place inside where you get any sense of a light & airy feeling would be the very few seats up front - just after you enter. Before this remake/re-decoration, prior to grand opening, why was the decision made to not lighten the place up a bit - since most of it is enclosed - with few windows. Maybe restauratueurs should be required to take a course in ambiance & interior decoration. I don't know if we will go back or not.

It just dawned on me what may be the problem with the un-hot food. They are serving the small side salad on the SAME plate as the should-be-hot items. You just can't do this. The salad should be in a separate dish. It is apparant that they are not doing it this way - as the plates were not hot. What they are doing is putting all items on an un-hot plate, which means they need the hot items to be HOT when scooped up onto the plates. My Tilapia was in a small casserole dish.
So, is the un-hot food caused by it simply not being hot when put on the plates, or is it because it sits back where it comes out of the kitchen for too long - while waiting for the waiters to catch up? Whatever the reason, I'm sure Gordon Ramsey would spew a mouthful of profanities about it.
I think that we expected above average food & service, but found it to be a little below average.
On the other hand, there are so few good restaurants in this area, and customers are so used to below average, that this restaurant will likely prosper. Will someone please tell me where I can get the following: FRESH ingredients at a moderate price, in food that is not fat and calorie laden?

As far as the design, they are in a historic building, they have to conform to the original footprint of the building.
In other words, they just cant punch windows out everywhere because you think they need to.
Sheesh!

We had a very long wait to be seated even though there were empty tables. Seemed disorganized. We ended up getting seated in the most uncomfortable area possible, table was right over an air vent. Food was cold and nothing special. We tried it based on reviews we had read ,we ended up wondering what all was the fuss about. Wont go back

Well I have had lunch there several times and everything was wonderful. Great shrimp, wonderful Filet Mignon and loved the dessert. Service was good as well. It was loud since they were full with a lot of women chatting and enjoying their lunch. After all they have only been open a short time so why not give them another try. I know I will.
