tell me about Ocala

Detroit, MI

#1 Aug 30, 2012
I am desperate to know abour Ocala. I have been there a few times. So far, I love it. My husband, and I recently adopted our daughter, who is 9. We only want the best for her, and plan to move to Ocala soon. What part of Ocala do I want to avoid, and what part would be better? Please, any info. Would be appreciated.

Since you figure no one stampeded all over each other to rush on here to answer your questions, especially when there's MANY threads on here answering the same questions already and you only had to do a SIMPLE thread search, it's a pretty safe bet that NO WHERE needs yet another ignorant snarky moron amongst them so I second you're suggestion to FIND ELSEWHERE to move. How's that. :) Good luck to your adopted little girl, for sure. smh

Wow! Nice posts. I moved near Ocala two years ago from South Florida. We love it here. We live in the forest. Most everyone is very nice. The weather is usually great. Life is a little slower here, which was what we hoped for. The schools are a whole lot better and definetly, IMO a much better place to raise a child, my son is 12. I'm not sure about better or worse areas to live.
Obviously, everywhere has it's share of highs and lows. Unless you're in the medical profession, jobs are kinda scarce right now.
But I can tell you after moving here, I've not looked back once, even though all of our family is still in South Florida. I've not had the first regret moving here.
Hope that helps.

Thank you so much. Your info is helps a ton. My husband is retired military, I'm in cosmetology. I don't expect jobs to be a problem. My concern is moving into a bad school district, or bad area. Moving there for sure. To well now: that wasn't my first post begging for info. You make it sound like Ovals can use more decent people, to flush dirty scum like you out. People like me, who wont put up with your kind of trashy b.s. ruining the whole place.

Sorry, meant ocala. My phones been goofing up. August, I've been all over the country. Ocala is the place I choose, because it is so awesome. I can't imagine these miserable people on here. They don't realize what they have.

the COL in Marion County is a lot higher than comparable counties across the nation,
Personally, I can't agree with this statement. Here in Marion County, my mortgage payment is a few dollars less than I used to spend on my electric bill per month in South Florida. Last month, with the A/C on full time, my electric bill was $89.
Obviously, everyone has a different opinion, but my family is very happy here.

I said COMPARABLE.
The only comparison one can draw between South Florida and Marion County is that they are in the same state.
I would also bet that you had a wildly inflated mortgage payment due to the housing bubble.
Also, you obviously do not have Ocala Electric.
True, but I'm in the forest, which is understand is vastly different from living in town.
And in South Florida, you're right, EVERYthing is wildly inflated down there.

I've lived in the Forest for the past decade, before that, I lived in Ocala for a decade.
I am not quite sure what kind of comparison you are trying to draw.
Not trying to draw any comparisons. Merely, I am happier here than I ever was in that horrific jungle of a city. Being around that many people was starting to make me hateful.

Ahahahah well YOU're the one running a nasty mouth, and coming across as too stupid to do the simple average intelligent thing of GOING TO REAL ESTATE AGENTS and asking your questions. Oh, and how about *GASP* looking up the area newspapers online, and READING THEM of the areas you're looking into from there... uh oh.. hold on to those 3 struggling brain cells ready to explode over just those suggestions so far 'cause here's another one: How about *gasp* contacting the CITY HALL! Gee.... hope that didn't hurt too much... eh, if it did *shrug* oh well! Not like Ocala needed more of YOUR kind around... bad enough as it is, so YOUR idea of moving elsewhere is the best idea on here yet, MORON! Kudos!:) LOL

OK, know it all, done all of the above. Can't get any answers from even your professionals. Obviously it is a place full of stupid people, who are depressed, angry and sad. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! You all deserve it. Try being nice. You might get rid of the bad karma. I don't think it'll get any better though. Enjoy you're miserable life! Lemaitre!!

Funny you assume, that I didn't do all of the above. Your professionals there seam clueless. That's a sign. And we all know how to spell assume. I've definately decided not to move there. I reccomend you all leave, especially with folks there raping baby donkey, and the way the paper reported it. So sick, and unprofessional. Most places would omit the details. A lot of nasty people have ruined a beautiful place.
