On TV they were interviewing a jobless couple whose house was in foreclosure. On the driveway was a Nissan. I shouted,“Guys, people in Japan thank you for their jobs.”
Ugh! Jobless Americans driving foreign; putting even more Americans out of work. How come? Well, the Japanese have been luring us for years. They give their vehicles American sounding names. And our media promote them for free! Plus, they flood us with seductive ads. So no wonder we’re suckers. As to that quality BS: March ‘09 J.D. Power report for dependability shows Buick tops Lexus; Lincoln & Mercury in top 5. Today, differences between Japanese and American, exist only in persons' minds influenced by BIASED media, who, in effect, sell Japanese cars. For years they’ve been doing this, touting Japanese and knocking American. Yes, FOR FREE, media help sell MILLIONS and MILLIONS of Japanese cars. Their slanted reporting makes it nightmarish for the Big 3 to compete. And because our auto industry is an enormous factor in our economy, this costs America JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! But the Japanese say,“We give America jobs. We build cars here and hire Americans to build them.” Big deal! They assemble SOME here. The goal: get people to think:“They’re built here; that makes them American.” HOGWASH! They’re Japanese! Foreign! And here’s the clincher: MOST Japanese and Korean vehicles sold here come from Asia by boat. But no matter where vehicles are built what counts most is where profits end up. FACT: every year Japanese parent-corporations in Japan reap BILLIONS from cars sold in America. Yes, 31% of their income comes from the U.S.A.(see Google) These yearly billions support Japan’s economy at the expense of OURS! We’re Japan’s cash cow! This, despite our almost 50 million people with no health care, 37 million in poverty, 12 million kids hungry each day, 77,000 bridges needing rebuilding, highways crumbling, inner-city schools deteriorating, and unemployment highest in 26 years. Considering all that, we let Japan milk us for billions? Can we build cars in Japan? Nope! In ‘08 they imported a puny 10,000 of ours. But they sold us 3 MILLION!!! Square shooters, NOT! They’ve even refused to buy apples from us! They’re fiercely loyal to their own products. They close their market to us but FEAST on us! And, oh yes, the South Koreans are also parasites on us. They sell us 800,000 cars a year but buy only 6,000 of ours. Another bummer: many Big 3 dealers have conflicts of interest; they also sell foreign cars. So, they don't advertise and push:“DRIVE AMERICAN!” If they did, they’d sell lots more American and far fewer foreign. They’d put hundreds of thousands of Americans back to work. Yes, these dealers could do a lot to help our economy. Instead, they shortsightedly add to America’s woes. Anyway, from “FOREIGN-CAR-I-TIS,” we’ve lost a million jobs. And if we continue blind to this, estimates say up to 3 million more jobs will be lost. And some predict with trickle down it could be 4 million. As to the 375,000 or so jobs we get from foreigners to assemble vehicles, well, if from that we lose 3-4 million jobs, that’s OK? And now with U.S. backing, GM and Chrysler will be stronger. Even so, the Japanese and Koreans are circling vultures hoping they fail so they can devour the 100 year industry we created. Shall we help them? NO! NO! Let’s back the new GM and Chrysler, as well as Ford, which on its own is strengthening. For two months now, Ford has outsold Toyota. Finally, we’re starting to smell Japanese manure! Support our economy! DRIVE AMERICAN! "God bless America, land that I love, stand beside her...." P.S. More on quality: In 2006, Toyota was under criminal investigation for hiding safety defects: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/07... |

So true, Thank you. I'll keep buying American cars as long as they are made.
<<<<<QUOTE >>>> I think alot of what you said was right but there are some exceptions. The Toyota Tundra ( i know this from EXPERIENCE with pick-ups) is a MUCH better pick-up than the Ford, Chevrolet,Dodge pick-ups. It has better quality. They are selling them at most times for better pricing. The Toyota Tundra is an AMERICAN truck- and has been voted so by those who rate such things. I know the F-150 was top on the American list- but if you're looking for a more reliable truck ,a new one, the Tundra would be a much better choice. Though I think alot of what you said was true...and very telling. Thank you. |

Patriot from Ohio,
You seemingly speak with a forked tongue. Tundra an American truck??????? Respectfully, you better read again, my original words above. Sounds like you didn't read or didn't understand them. I betcha you sell Tundras. |

First of all, no im not a car salesman. LOL
Second of all, I wanted to add something to my comment from before. I forget to say that just because it says GM or FORD or DODGE does not mean its American. Many of those vehicles are LESS American than the 'foreign' cars.Go to the dealership and talk about that with them. Ford Dodge GM or whatever...many of their cars are not American at all. Here for example: Cars.com Top Ten American Cars Study from a few years ago.....results: Ford F150 Toyota Camry Chevy Silverado 1500 Chevy Cobalt Ford Focus Toyota Sienna Chevy Malibu Pontiac G6 Ford Escape TOYOTA TUNDRA Where are ANY Dodges? Well in the next cars.com study....we find that the Tundra beats the Silverado AND the Ram. Ford F150 Chevy Cobalt Chevy Malibu Pontiac G6 Toyota Tundra Toyota Sienna Honda Odyssey Chevy Silverado 1500 Chrysler Sebring Ford Explorer/Sport Trac With Tundra at 5th plane! Also notice the Toyota Sienna right behind it. The Tundra is just as 'American' as the Ram or Silverado. Dodge and Chevy manufacture a huge amount of their parts in Mexico. Its not that that really matters- just this whole 'foreign truck' thing is ridiculous. The F-150 is a very American vehicle. THe latest cars.com rating had 5 Toyotas- yes thats 5- in the top ten. With the Toyota Camry becoming the MOST AMERICAN MADE car. Here is what they say they do: In today's global economy, there's no easy way to determine just how American a car is. Many cars built in the U.S., for example, are assembled using parts that come from somewhere else. Some cars assembled in the U.S. from strictly American-made parts don't sell very well, meaning that fewer Americans are building those models. Cars.com 's American-Made Index highlights the cars that are built here, have the highest amount of domestic parts — with eligible models having parts-content ratings of 75 percent or higher — and are bought in the largest numbers by Americans. |

I'm not a fan of Japan- I love America and America only. That doesn't mean I have to buy a Dodge or a Chevrolet pick-up instead of a Toyota.I agree we lose way to many jobs overseas! Buying a ram or silverado is not going to help that! I just showed you the statistics and thats the best you can come up with? come on man |

Ok, I'm "Dude," whatever that's supposed to mean. For sure, it's not exactly a term of respect.
But so be it. Anyway, Patriot, sure, absolutely, you don't have to buy any certain make of car. It goes without saying that's your right! But I do believe two basic common sense adages are applicable to America's present sad economic situation: 1. "Charity begins at home!" 2. "Let's not feed the hands that bite us." Think about it! |

Think about it! <<<<<<<QU OTE>>>>>> Iluvamerica, you never even bothered to properly read my first post.I had said "Alot of what you said was true...but" so I agree with what you had said. I simply am saying there are exceptions to this. Obviously I can buy any car I want. But thats not what I said: I'm not a fan of Japan- I love America and America only. That doesn't mean I have to buy a Dodge or a Chevrolet pick-up instead of a Toyota. What I was saying is that just because I buy a Toyota Tundra doesn't mean I don't love America. The Tundra is MORE American- putting more money RIGHT HERE- than many other vehicles. Thats a fact. The parts are made HERE. ITs made HERE. Of course other factors basically end up evening things out when it comes to the Tundra vs. other trucks, but to say buying a Silverado or Ram is somehow patriotic doesn't make any sense. To say buying a Tundra somehow hurts our economy and helps another economy doesn't make sense. Theres also a lot more than just cars. Everything everywhere you go is made in China. There are so many people that say, oh buy ford, buy dodge, yet all the rest of the stuff they buy is made in China. Everything is made in China. COMES FROM CHINA. Whereas the Tundra doesn't even come from Japan. Its parts don't come from Japan. Its not built in Japan. The fat that everything is made in China is a much more important issue. We need to buy American, but REAL american. MADE IN AMERICA. (Though I would agree with you on most foreign cars. The Tundra is one of the few exceptions.) |

You're unpersuasive.
I still think you sell Tundras. You ignore that profit from them helps the economy of Japan and hurts America's. I would be ashamed to drive one! I say no more here, because we're spinning our wheels. Adiós. |

Ok whatever. I don't sell Tundras.I don't even own one. My father owns TWO of them. Hes always been a ford/dodge guy.He was going to buy an f-150 but the deals were really bad on fords at the time and he COULDN'T AFFORD the F-150.He also feared the F-150 would lose its value faster because he would soon need a new truck. Alot of people talked about the F-150 losing value faster. I personally LOVED the F-150. The Silverado and Ram were out of the question, my dad wanted to buy the most American truck for the best price. Which came to the Tundra.I looked into it. A little research is all it takes. I know alot about pick-up trucks. My WHOLE family (uncles cousins, grandparents ect ect ect) buy ford . Ford is a great brand. I think the F-150 is a great truck.( I don't know much about the Titan. I've heard good things about it.)
You're the one whos unpersuasive. Its not like its unusual or anything, people deny the facts all the time. The fact is ...just because Chevrolet or Dodge are based in America doesn't mean anything. Their parts come from other countries. Other countries make the Silverado or Ram while under the name of ' Made In America' though its not true. meanwhile, the real jobs are created by the Tundra. Tundra is an AMERICAN truck. Whether you believe it or not.( Like I said earlier its a close call. other factors even it out. Though the Tundra is more quality. Just don't say that buying the Tundra hurts America. Thats BS.) Well, then don't buy one. And you don't need to say any more either. The facts stand for themselves. Btw, if your spinning your wheels I'll come pull you out with a good 4x4 Tundra. LOL Joke :) |
